All insite wanted! PLEASE READ!

Ok so I have paid for the cam for my truck so dont try to tell me to change my mind. (I recieved an excellent deal I couldnt pass up) cam in sig. Now that it will be installed shortly im wondering if for the time being while I dont have a converter are my E.T's going to drop because of the cam being so big? Now converter choice. I spoke with chris from Circle D and I know he really knows his stuff but I just want oppinions. He said that a 3600 would be good and I completely agree, that is the # i've had in my head when i first thought about the cam. Now for the problem, I am going to be going to college in the fall so I cant spend $800 on a converter. So I have 2 options, I can buy a reworked TB or should I just wait and hope to stumble across and find a decent used higher stall?

maybe a tab big, but depends on what more youre gonna do besides a stall? the 3600 would be nice pending on the STR? what about the tranny? you think the servo is gonna keep it together? you have ported heads in mind? that cam is gonna need to breathe alittle bit, i personally would waite until you can afford the mods you want!! you'll thank yourself in the end!! good luck and hope it all comes together for you :)

its not too HUGE, and with your 4.10s i say youll be ok for a while, it might be a little slower, or the same, or it could be faster, who knows, but i say just go for it and save up for the right stall

Oh I forgot to mention earlier that a shift kit will be installed soon also, I know it's not a built tranny but every little bit helps, right?
And to answer your ? I do plan on taking this 4.8 to it extreme with heads, intake, ETC... and no F.I in the future, just N2O

It is in fact huge mounted in a 4.8 ECSB. 3600 or don't put the cam in IMO.

IMO I would try it and see how it feels. I had a bigger/choppy cam in my 4.8 ecsb and it ran great. sounded nice. bolt ons stock heads, and stock stall, Was good enough to trap 97mph in the 1/4 with 4850 weight. But you will need a decent stall. If your ever going to tow, dont go any higher than a 3200. You could find a tight 3500 and be ok. But The bad thing with these 4.8's is they are better suited to either boost, or rev really high. So I say if your going to stay NA, get that cam and some ported heads that have a smaller cc, and put down 350-375whp at 6500rpms. With a decent stall you should see mid 13's with that cam and some headers. Keep the gears, youll need them. Also smaller tires are your friend.

Good decision do it right the first time.

Doing it right the first time usually saves you a ton of money and time..

go with a tcs converter i know a rep and you could get it way cheaper than a circle D. Tcs is a better converter imo

find a stall as soon as you can, other then that have fun. look on the ls1tech classified for a deal. If you can get a tb stall for cheap I would throw that in if you dont think you will have money to do the high stall for a while.

when the cam was in my 6.0 i was turning 6500 rpms so u should see that no problem could probably go as high as 6700. as for the stall I had a 3200 and i thought it was to small in the 6.0 and when i had this cam and the stall in the 408 it was just too small. Id go 3600 from circle d everything i have heard about them is good from there customer service to there product. And then when u get a chance get ur heads P&P and id suggest hand and not C and C because of a more detailed job, then a nice 100-150 shot and you will be happy for a while:burnrubb: the only thing will be ur trans, might want to look into a stock used 80e with just a shift kit before the spray
