then the LS7 will chew everything else up, the 14000 I think covered absolutely everything your truck would need to rape lightning reliably for years
14,000 seems a bit much to me. If you stay n/a it will be a lot less than fi.
ya, the cost of the parts is just the start..... its all the supporting parts that will cost in the long run....lol....

If you couldn't beat a lightning for WAY less than 14k I'd give up
you could just do a baller front mount and nothing else and have a great chance on owning him hard core
ya, superchargers are cool. My wife has one on her tahoe. runs great.
you could beat a L for 500.... for a while.... strap a 200 shot on that beast and go for it.... till pop...i dont mean motor... it will be something, tranny, rear end... maybe motor, maybe 2 at once... lol.. like it was said, plan for the unexpected..
and a ls7 wont just drop right in, there will be a lot of stuff need to be done to get it in the truck and working right.
you can beat a lightning for less than a 1000 bucks!

Like stated you can beat him for a few hundred. You could beat him somewhat reliably with a FLT lev 5 tranny, Stall, Cam, 4.10s, and a 200 shot. If you did the work yourself or had a couple friends help you... be around 5k I think. Maybe 6

I'm a newbie... what's FLT? Anyone have a link to their site? Everyone seems to bash the 4l60e...I know lot of guys with lifted trucks/ semi modded N/A motors, and none have ever had a problem. I'm rolling 150k on mine, and I beat on it pretty bad ***knocks on wood***

I thought the same way you did my brother has an 03 cobra i wanted to at least give him a run for his money...but then he started modding it and he makes way more money than me...plus there is the weight issue i would have had to overcome...
you gotta pay to play...think over what you want to do and slowly build what you want part at a time if the money is tight. Thats wut I did...first thing a tune and headers(installed headers and exhaust myself) then the cam and springs(had tyler help install) next was rear gears and an eaton(shop did that) I then had virgil retune my truck and it was a blast to drive....Until the tranny went...had Jerry build me a new one with a good stall and Danny and Tyler helped me install it.
Save your money stay stock. He already has the jump on you. It will cost a fortune to keep up. Save up and by a new ZR1 or z06 then you can spank him stock.
I could have bought a C4 zo6 with the money I have wasted on my truck. New

I wouldn't worry about beating your brother, just set a goal and reach it. There is a ton you could do to your truck to make it faster. I don't think anyone gets to where they want to be in one step so plan to take a few. You could start with beating a stock L. Then work up to a modded L and so on. I have a bunch of money in mine and I'm sure I can't beat all L's.
