Larger injectors for truck intake?

Well I could get a set of Racetronix 42lbs/hrs for about $330 new and those are rated at a higher FP than the Bosch/Ford style green 42lbs/hr that are rated at a lower pressure. Those are about $330 new also. Leads me to suspect the Bosch/Ford flow more...but I dont' need an injector that will support 650rwhp! lol

Obviously I don't need these for a long while until that larger motor appears in the truck so would it be smarter to convert to the regular harness and go with some 30lbs red top Ford injectors to support my cam and bolt ons?

Maybe those 8.1 injectors would be a nice medium for me?

I believe those 8.1 non-marine are 30 #ers...and no wiring changes

Yeah, that's what I was thinking they were. Any ideas how much HP they can support?

How much more do the Marine 8.1 injectors flow and any idea on their pricing?

The marine 8.1 injectors are the 43 pounders from what I understand. These are the ones used on most supercharger applications, so these are capable of LOTS of horsepower. They come with the radix and these are the ones a lot of guys with the whipples and prochargers upgrade to.

The homepage lists them as 42 pounders and the page above lists them as 44 pounders??? They have them also at Arizona Speed & Marine.

Yeah, I looked about and found that set from Racetronix from Thunder Racing for ~$330 new.

Looks like I may just go that way. They should support pretty much anything, but if they are too large...wouldn't they be hard to control at idle?

I recall used 8.1s (non Marine) sell for like $200 usually... hell, a few dollars more and I have new direct fit injectors.

If you're planning on more than 400 horsepower na at the flywheel, the 42 pounders would probably be the way to go. If tune correctly, they won't be a problem at idle. This downloadable program has some injector sizing help.... http://www.virtualengine2000.com/

It's would be much easier for direct replacements than cutting and splicing!! Those 42 pounders are what I had when I had a ProCharger. I ended up selling it when my wife was having job difficulties for some extra money. I ran the 42 pounders for a week before I got a new tune without the ProCharger and had no problems at low rpms. I kept out of the upper rpms since it was programmed to account for all of that extra air! Swapping them out was extremely simple.

Sweet, looks like that's what I'll do. The more I've looked it seems that it's not practical to swap to an LS6 intake as the gains are minimal.

You may have more injector than you think, those stock ones are good for lots of power, sometimes going to a large injector is overrated, I tuned a '99 ec silvy with a 150 dry shot that made 335 to the wheels and the injectors kept up just fine, sure they were maxing out, but that gives you an idea on how much you have. The 99's have 19lb injectors.
400hp to the wheels is a shit load of power! it takes lots of boltons to get there.

Doesn't it mean the injector stays open all of the time when it reaches 100% duty cycle?? Kind of sounds like an "afterburner" fuel dump and there isn't any way for the computer to control the amount of fuel coming in.

Well usually over about 85% IDC injectors get weird and hard to control from what I understand.

Once you're at 100%, they're wide open... kinda sorta like valve float.

So it's not good to have the smaller injectors even if they can handle the demand if they have to be wide open to handle it? How much power do you plan on making Hitman?

Yeah IDCs get uncontrollable once they get in that 85-90% range. They're open so much they can barely control their flow. It seems silly to get into a danger area like that.

Once they go 100% IDC at like 5000rpm for instance then you shift at 6000rpm you still only flow the same amount from 5K-6K so I'd assume you'd go lean...

Honestly an honest 400-425rwhp, prolly with an HPE 408. Prolly some ported 6.0 heads and a 270 adv cam that's pretty tame. Like a 232/236 270/270 .566/.565 114LSA. Good tame street cam, WOT shifs at like 6300rpm or so.
