so i got my truck back friday night,and theres alot of clatter in the engine. it feels like it wants to turn off when im doing 55-70 at 1,100-1,500 RPMs.its starts clattering alot and jurking forwards. and im wondering id its because i have the 5.3 tune on it not a 6.0 tune on it.....and in the past two days i've wasted 3/4 of a tank and only gone like 180 miles......

He had his old worn out 5.3 swapped for a 6.0
yea,i got a 6.0 swap froma 5.3.it runs nowhere i thought it was.or where it should IMO.the reason i havent got a re-tune is because the mechanic told me to wait alittle while to "get on it" and wait to get the truck tuned. and with my gf prom around the corner i've spent so much money on it,im broke now.and had to put the stock push rods on it.could that be a problem? it only clatters at 1,100-1,500 rpms. once i pick it up faster it sounds good anf runs good too

Clatter and ping are kinda the same in some circles. The reason you here it in that range is because that is the range where the engine has the most load under normal conditions. It's lean and the tune is off. Bad combo. Get it fixed.

I still wana know what ''mechanic'' you are giving all your money to. First motor he does cam and other work, and then it mysteriously got leaky valves. Now you got a 6.0 swap and he told you NOT to get it tuned!!! Not by any means trying to be rude, but I think you need to find a new garage. And good luck when you get a tune, hope it all works out for you.
he told me not to get a tune untill after the motor "breaks in". i hope it doesnt break while i break it in.lol. ima call flaco ina min see if he has time today or tomorrow. i alrready have 250 miles on it. that should be fine,right?Quote:

no,it wasnt used.and i took it to flaco today and he told me that the pinnning on it was because the cam wasnt aligned right. so i called the mechanic up told him i was ganna take im some pushrods and drop it off
just to get this correct... obviously seems to be when they installed the cam, it must have been way to advanced( like a tooth off)..cause the truck when you turn it on, it is still missing...and 2 cylinders are not firing properly..when u put the truck in drive and barely tap the gas it cladders (not pinging) just as when the cam timing is not correct...when u come to a stop the truck sounds hurt...like when a pushrod is bent or something similar...definitly the engine is not working properly nor the cam is installed correctly on it..
just for the record i did not do the motor nor cam swap on it myself...it was someone else..i have tried to tune it 2 times gteran has came to my shop but no success due to engine not working properly..
let me know when they fix it, if not I can fix it for u gTeran..

Question on your pushrods, was the cam designed to be used with stock length pushrods? If it wasn't then that's a problem right there but either way get hardened pushrods in there, the stock ones are weak.
