You've got the Texas Speed 228R??? That's the cam I've got my eyes on. What LSA did you pick out? I was thinking about going with the 112.
Can you post up some video, or at least an audio clip, so I can hear how she sounds? I'm about a year away from finishing my project, I'd be interested in seeing what she'll sound like. :)
228r in a 5.3 huh?
did you decide on this after watching a donkey show? just sayin....
Yeah really....especially with a 112.
I forgot he has a 6-million stall.
It is a 6.0. But I want to hear what the 228R sounds like. It would probably sound very similar to what I'm going to do. I just picked up a set of bare 317's from Quik, and I'm going to have them ported and polished to go along with the cam.
I've never heard an audio clip of the 228R on a 112 LSA. I pretty much picked that cam out because it was suggested to me by numerous people, and it is in the ballpark lift figure I was wanting.
I still think you would be better off with a tr220 or custom grind. I also wouldn't go to a cam that large without porting the heads and raising compression. but I am no expert and I wish you the best. and I have to give you props for the high stall to match the large cam.
I actually got the cam to match the high stall. It ran good with the smaller cam too. Ran an 8.3 with a conservative tune with the 216/220.
I do plan on getting the heads milled and having them ported/valve job. Would like 10 or 10.5:1 cr, but that will be later this year.
This cam isn't that big..
Im running a comp 234/236.595/598/112 in a 5.3 and its a monster.....pulls like a SOB from 2000 - 7200...i love it already and its still not tuned yet
Idle vids?
sooo....
Elvis has left the building.
your guna love that cam. i just swapped out my 226r (custom grind). wished i had the 228r after driving it on a 226
ran 12.49 before the ported heads. dont listen to these guys who are afraid of bigger cams. i was in the same boat as them until i actually stepped up to a bigger cam. just swapped my 226/226 .584/.584 112+4 for a 231/239 .617/.623 111+2 cam and picked up an additional 20 hp over my 226 cam. it idles the same and drives the same. 60' times are the same too. only ran 2/10 slower in +450 da when my PB was set in -1000ish DA. et wise the 226 cam showed to gain around 70hp with my setup
ap2002 has taken his stock lq4 to a 12.41 i think with the same cam i had. he stepped up to a larger cam and bumped the compression a hair and now he is running 12.3's.
I don't think you'll see anymore of Scott on this site, he had a "meltdown" to put it nicely. He said he would stick to PT.
i noticed that he wasnt on here anymore, guess u gotta watch what you say lol
