Newbie Here have ?s about shift kit/servos

Hey all! Just wanted to introduce myself. Yes I already have questions. I just purchased a Nelson Tune 93 Octane for my 2006 GMC Sierra Z71 excab, pretty excited bout it! It's an everyday driver and I am going to keep it stock. I just wanted some more performance out of my truck. I have a Volant CAI and Exhaust. I wanted to know what exactly the Servos and Shift Kits do for the truck? Also wanted to know if it's worth purchasing/adding them to my truck? I plan on having the truck till she's old and grey! Thanks.

servo will help all the above, it'll help with the friction less friction = less heat = happy trans :lol:

or just get it from nelson the vette servo shouldnt be more than 20$ any more than that is to much and you can do the install yourself it not hard honestly, also you might wanna look into getting some billet accumulator pistons for the trans.

The shift kit with plate is 127.00
the servo is 25.00
and accumulator piston is 5.00

Welcome to the site... Marine here too, been in for almost 12 years, KC-130's out of NAS JRB Fort Worth, Texas.

Like they said, less heat=longer life. I've found that a good tune like Nelson's will also help in that too. He can firm up the shifts so there's no slip between gears. From the factory they tune in a certain amount of slip between the gears to make the shifts feel softer, but all that slip build heat.

Yea I ordered my tune yesterday. It's should be here in a few days. Was just wondering about the servo and shift kit. I'll just have to have it retuned if I get the servo/shift kit for my truck. Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for the responses. You guys helped a lot. Looks like i'll be getting the servos/shift kit eventually. Looks like the PCM will be coming back to you guy's Melissa. Haha.

How is it goin. I did 5 years with 1FSSG over in Pendelton. Got out 2 1/2 years ago. I just did a shift kit and servo and i love it. I saw an increase in mpg. I also did a 60E to 65E conversion. I would recommend to do a complete overhaul on the trans if you have it out. Welcome
