Good Price? Well Free would be nice !:spit:
Id say 400$ or 500$ish. Ive found some at the JY here for around that much and on craigslist.
i jus killed my third 4L60 an am tired of f'n with them..haha
Everywhere around the DFW area salvage yards wanted right about $1000 + $350 for a core for a 90 day guaranteed 80e.
even the baddest 60e or 65e is just a bandaid on power IMO. just my .02
ya im keepin the 5.3...do u no the stock stall in 80e converter
Just get a TH400 and be done with it then lol not sure on the stock 80e stall though.
If you convert to an 80e though on a half ton dont you have to change the mounts and stuff underneath and get a conversion harness?
ya the harness is only a hundred bucks though...im jus wantin 2 do the 80e cause i can get one for rite at a few hundred bucks rite now dat was rebuilt bout 5000 miles ago, a buddy of mine rolled his 3/4 ton so it's CHEAP!!!!...lol
a 80e is just an updated th400 with an od and electronics. All the high end tranny places claim that the 80e is much stronger than the th400. if you can get an 80e I would say get it. you will have to modify the cross member with any tranny other than a 60e.
Jump on it. At least you can make a few bucks off it if you decide not to use it.
dats wat im thinkin red...i jus hate 2 buy a converter for it $$expensive$$!!!
Converters are pricey no matter what. Pretty much the same $$$ for 80e as 60e.
i wish somebody new wat the stock stall was for an 80e
Off Topic but , Werent Moze and Virgil talking about running the TH400 though? If the 80e is better than the TH400, wouldnt it be better for them to run that setup then?
Id just run it till ya can get a better one that you want. Or just wait and get one and put it in at the same time of install. If you can get the tranny for a good price though then Id grab it. Im sure its similar to the 60e stall if not a little higher rating.
80e better yes, cheaper no. th400 can be built for about 1k. 80e is much more....
80e swap costs big $. Trans, converter, harness adapter, xmember mod, Th400/80e yoke, conversion ujoint or driveshaft mod, tune overlay for 80e shift parameters.... yada yada yada. TH400 can run without a computer interface. 80e can too but you have to go full manual Transgo HD3 for that to happen.
it is alot more costly but in my opinion an compared 2 the money i've blew on 60e trans the 80e swap will be well worth it an alot less worrys...
Thats why I'm running an 80e, got tired of burning up the 60e with my 408+nitrous.
Oh Ok that makes much more sense, I was confused for a little bit. Electronics and an updated better tranny pretty much
