what should timing be set at with a scanner on a 1997 c1500 5.7 350?
The question and answer may not match here.
If it's an R 350 (stock type) timing is not adjustable by turning the HVS like an old distributor. Timing can only be changed in the 'puter. Twisting the HVS will only throw off the CMPS and the offset.
If that's what you meant in the question, I apologize.
man i am just trying to figure out why in the hell my truck is detonating, no matter where i get my fuel from. i have even ran a quart of water threw the TB to clean the carbon up and i still am having this issue!!!:ummm:
There is help out there somewhere...
Maybe there's an update for your PCM, like a newer OS or fix?
so you mean the 411 swap?
help fix my problem.
Ttt
I think he means 411 PCM.
Maybe you should be more clear in the questions you ask. Gears as in rear end gears 4.11s or 411 as in the numbers used to dial information on a phone.
My question was clear as a bell.
You might get more answers if your questions and responses showed a more pistive attitude.
HTML Code:newer fix, what the hell is that suppost to mean.
Hey Jake, relax. He's from Collin County....
what a min!!!!
my attitude is just fine!!!this is not your wife or one of your kids your trying to talk to here.
i am a man, in need,and i ask a question and i seem to get a half ass answer,or in your case,just a bunch of nonsense.:blahblah:
i dont understand.
i was having a problem with my truck as stated in all post which you probably didnt read,if you would have read all my other post, you would have seen that my issues have nothing to do with a set of 4.11 gears or a info call.....:wtf::LOL:
most folks are very aware of the 12200411 swap better known as the 411 swap..
so please Jake if you have nothing to offer please be so kind to take your constructive criticisms else where.:beerchug:
thanks
Ed
GasGuzzler!!!
:smash:
I have seldomly rubbed people the wrong way on this forum. Looks like you are now one of them.
I had no idea what you were talking about when you said "411" obviously. A simple explanation of what you meant would have helped me help you. Seems though you don't know much either or you would not be asking questions here. It is pretty funny that very few have offered advice or help. I wonder why. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Good point Jake. I couldn't offer advice...I only knew what he meant. LOL I had nothing as far as advice. No one has answered the question...mostly 'cause no one remembers what it was after all this.
Jake is easy on folks so please be so to him. I try to help and get flamed more than backed so write down me backing someone. It was funny to me until the insults started....and Jake, it wasn't that hard to figure out (I'm a dummy remember).
lets do a refresher here for ya.
you guys must suffer from some sort of long or short term memory loss.
bottom line is asked for help GasGuzzler made a nice attempt,Zeake you was saying "take it some where and pay someone some money,to figure it out".
thats not a option.
so back to the point before i was rudely interrupted,by what seems to be a few post whores!!!
my truck has been having some detonation issues,i asked Nelson and he gave me some options to work with.
i believe my problems is the cats and o2 sensors.
things are erratic with the truck, so thats my conclusion,to my problems with my truck
thanks
Ed
I think Allen thought you were asking an HPT tuning question. I only tried to explain the timing is not mechanically adjustable. Because now we're left to think you don't have HPT or other tuning software, the next best option is to have it professionally scanned...this is what zeake was suggesting while trying to help.
Let us know how it goes....in a kind manner.
