LS6 intake = ZERO GAINS!

right now i feel like i woulda been better off wiping my butt with the money. i basically ran the exact times.

best time on my before numbers was 8.02@85.xx
best time on my after numbers are 7.99@86.xx

i did the best apples to apples comparison i could. both runs within 1 week on the same track at the same weight nothing else changed. charlie retuned it and left everything the same but just tuned for the injectors. it was hot as crap both nights. i did pick up 1mph so im guna give it the benifit of the doubt and hope it helps more in the 1/4 but i doubt it.

so far my results are:

TRUCK INTAKE = LS6 INTAKE

Would more relearn time help some?

I guess it kind of makes *some* sense, loss of TQ with the truck and probably gains up top with LS6?

that sucks man....did the 60' times change any?

I read an article a while back that compared different gm intakes. After testing the lq4 was just as good as the ls intakes. Only downside was its size. I'll try to locate it and post it

ive seen the same articles that showed the same numbers but once they started throwing in cams the ls6 intake outperformed the truck intake from like 5300 rpm on up. the 60' stayed about the same but i gained 1mph. the 1mph is keeping me optomistic that i will gain in the full 1/4 but i doubt it.

im itching to put on this nitrous kit! still dont plan on putting it on until i make that 11 second pass on motor.

Stewart---give it some more time to learn everything. Drive with it for a while and get it to a 1/4 mile track. Since the LS6 is for better upper end power, you will see the difference on a 1/4 mile run vs. an 1/8 mile run. Plus the tune is brand spankin new and needs some miles to get acquainted with it. :)

Well damn stewart. I know lance saw few gains after reading that article that he posted up

I figured the gains would be small at best. Like TXsilverado stated 5300+ rpm and maybe with a nice cam some performance would be gained.

Hold out for the new Weiand composite intake that's supposed to be like 30 HP over the LS6 intake.

I thought that is why people went to the ls6 intake was for above 5000 rpm performance so i think it would be more noticeable in a 1/4 might pick up 5 mph

you'll notice the difference mile an hour wise in the 1/4 mile, but man stewie I always though you truck was already putting down impressive #'s with your previous posts of track times, how does it pull on the freeway and highway now?

I'll bet you will see gains in top end in the 1/4 mile. Looks like you've got that ex-cab moving. By the way, how much does your truck weight?

i doubt the trucks hurt. going from 50* weather to 80-90 i lost 1/10 on my 60' time and 3/10 overall on the 1/8. lost 2-3 mph in the 1/8 too but heat sucks like that:(

it will be back up and ripping again this winter:)

Im using the 90mm TBSS intake and it has its ups and downs lol you can def tell the diffrence in air intake but u really cant feel any diffrence between our truck intakes to them but hey if ur gettin it for free throw it on it wont hurt lol

What are your shift points at?

6900 before and after intake swap. im putting it on the dyno this saturday to see where i should shift it.

Yeah I know he has heads. I was just inferring that my 5600 shift points arent cutting it.

like tyler said the gains will come but the ls6 swap really shines when u throw on heads and cam

Hey stewart what are the specs on your cam/heads?

patriot stage II ls6 heads with a 226 cam.

yeah I know, he would be the one to change them anyways. Im just gonna do a set of springs/rods, so I can run 10lbs comfortably and to move my shift points up a little
