Got pulled over

Well i decided to race a 240 sx today, and about 7 seconds into it we passed two cops who immediatly turned and came after us. To make a long story short he said i was doing 60 in a 35, and i was def. doing all of that. The kid i was racing got a ticket for 75 in a 35. Im going to court on the ticket cause if it goes through ill lose my license, the sorta funny thing about this (but not really) is i was beating him. But on the ticket, the cop never checked off any of the boxes for posted speed, not posted, lidar, clocked, radar, estimated. So im wondering if i can use it to my advantage and get outa it.

But, you were caught in whats called a ''Contest of speed'' Which is punishable By jail time, and loss of licence... In California they will also crush your vehicle and you will be responsible for the note if you are still paying on it...
Plea it down, ask for community service... Whatever you do try and get it defered. If you do It wont stay on your record. Dont just take the ticket. Also might wanna call a lawyer. Imo

I would fight it since they it's not checked for radar. although if they go they could bust you out on the racing. I have beat that one b4.

dude just pay your fine...you got off lucky here in texas its a class b mis...which means your car gets towed and you go to jail....you got caught racing and the officer only wrote you a speeding ticket...you got off lucky

Defer it bro... save money on insurance and saves your record... read My first post... believe me I know.

Im def. gonna fight it cause the cop said nothing about the racing cause we both said we didnt kno each other and we were just driving so the cops didnt even kno, im in Mass. also. But i wouldnt be able to get community service, id just loose my license.

Well I am sure you can still get it deferred... just talk with the prosecutor, and ask for a deferral, Defencive driving might be out of the question, but its all bargaining. do whatever you have to, just don't settle for paying the fine, you will regret it when it affects your job 2 years from now... Paying a fine= admit to guilt= on your record...

Ok im going to send the ticket in to fight it then, it was a 250 fine, and if i do lose my license ill have to pay that, and go to a road rage course and then id lose my license for 90 days, so basically, ima fight this and hope i dont lose.

deferring isnt really ''fighting it'' its more like begging for mercy lol. Basically you would be asking the Judge for a break. He would then ask the Prosecutor, then give you a sentence. If you work it out with the prosecutor, you might just get a slap on the wrist... BTW road rage classes are good for you, and allot better than Jail time. The fact that the cop didnt check a box probably wont make a difference unless you plead not guilty. But if you loose, they will throw the book at you. Expect Jail time, Fines court cost, even a charge of wreck-less endangerment. These charges will stick forever... Contact a lawyer before you make any decisions. Im not familiar with the laws up there, but Im pretty sure you can walk away with your licence and just a slap on the wrist''crazy driver'' classes... Oh yeah I bet you wont be racing the rice boys in public anymore huh?

Don't try to fight it alone, get a lawyer. Judges say that a man who tries to defend himself has a fool for a lawyer. :lol:

here in north carolina a lawyer can get a speeding ticket reduced to a non moving violation for improper equipment, basically stating that your speedometer was not working. the non moving violation carries no points just a $25 dollar fine and $100 court costs. plus the $125 lawyer fee thats not to bad. deffinatly go talk to a lawyer will know a way to get you out off the ticket.

it doesnt matter here if the cop doesnt show up they just have a cop who stays in court all day long and they consider that as a cop being there, but ya im getting a lawyer to fight it, ill let u all kno how it goes

90 days is nothing I have done that twice. I bicycled for the first 90 days then the second I drove with a bike in the bike rack in case i got caught.

Ya but its still 90 days over the summer that i wont have a license and the fact id have to pay to get my ticket back, and theyd make me take road rage courses, in the end id be paying around a grand when its all said and done and i dont really wanna have to do that, im hoping i can just win in court

Jeff you are full of $hit bro...there is no law that states they can take your vehicle and destroy it. it is also not called contest of speed if the cop didnt state that he was racing. It is a simple speeding ticket you can go pay a lawyer 50-100 and they can take care of it.

fight it btw no state can crush your vehicle you could be jailed and fined but they cant crush your vehicle thats the stupidest rumor ive ever heard if so you could sue the state for destuction of property

Okay smartasses I just called a attorney friend of mine that practiced in California for 25 years......they can crush your car only if the deadline has not been met to pull it from the impound. That is how the state can get away with it. They toss the drivers in jail and give them 24hrs to get the car...then they hold them for over a 24 hour period. If you have a loan out on the vehicle they call the lender before it is crushed and they come out and pay the fees to release the car then charge the person the fees or repo it. So both of you need to do your research.

You can butter it up all you want but any way you slice it YOU and Jason were wrong. :LOL: oh and I was wrong about the contest of speed thing... I thought he got a ticket for speeding AND racing... And I am man enough to admit it too. :tvhaha:

I've had enough tickets and the best thing to do is defer it if you can't get an attorney to take care of it. Whatever you do don't take defensive driving unless it's a last resort. It ffuucckkeedd me on my last defer I did. IT actually stays on your record as where deferring doesn't. Good luck!

all it showed on my record was that i took defensive driving... I even got a discount on my insurance!!! :lol: I have taken DD 3 times. Once I took it 2 times in one year, even though They werent supposed to let me. The judge was just nice, because I was super nice and funny. thats another reason, because people steal motors and trannies and put them in different cars. The main reason is because So many people get killed its tragic. In CALI it has gotton to that point were they had to do something because it was such a problem. Canada is getting there too. its not the true racers that cause the accident usually, its the 16-20 year old kids that just saw Fast and furious and put a fart can on their civic and think its a 10 second car. Also dumbasses who think they are deathproof are the ones that think they know everything and end up crashing into somebodies sister or husband and killing them. BACK TO THE SUBJECT AT HAND>>>>>> get the ticket deffered!!!

OK, heres the verdict, i called a few friends, the ticket was already sent in so i couldnt get it ripped up, the cop who pulled over the 240 i know pretty well. I called him the other day and he is going to court with me to talk in my defense, he told me the ticket will get dropped. So i have to do landscaping work around his house for this one.

thats awesome dude ive got a racing ticket im still paying on so i wouldnt complain about some landscaping, think of it as a chain gang hahahahha i was just wondering what the hell does california's laws have to do with this thread you all live in texas and he lives in Mass. :ugh2::ugh2:

Because the state does it, that does not make it legal. CA's got a major lawsuit brewing.
