Going to look at a Dmax tomorrow suggestions?

I plan on crawling all under to look for shiny spots on the undercoat, left from something being worked on, but what else should I look at? Its an 05 ccsb 4wd with 50K on it, they are asking 27, Im going to offer them 24.5 OTD since trade in value on it is 21.5. Im not going to be able to sleep, its teh EXACT truck I want and is only a 25 minute drive from me. After deciding what I wanted to do in the other thread, I hopped on autotrader and there was the truck I had been looking for with no luck for the last couple of months, oh the irony and great timing.:burnrub:

i haven't really heard anything bad about those trucks. i would just check the rear end, tranny, and the front axle for leaks. i know chevy doesn't great seals for those, you have to replace them every 30k or so.

The Dmax is an awesome truck, 50k is low miles. Ive had a new one every year since 02, and put about 170k hard miles on each one. I mean like 20+ bottles of nitrous and huge tuners hard. The 05s are good trucks

I guess Ive been lucky. Never had any issues with any of those.

Good luck with your purchase. My '03 ext cab 4x4 has about 190K on the clock. It's a six speed and still gets 22mpg when I don't tow anything and drive under 70mph. The only probs I've had were tranny/clutch/flywheel related. Might have had something to do witht the power programmer set a 365hp for just about the entire life of the truck. The next drop of oil I see from any leak will be the first. I just change fluids at recommended intervals....never have to add.

My suggestion is buy it.

doesnt really matter- motor is covered for 100,000 miles GO FOR IT!

Well the service manager took it home last night, they are waiting to see if he is going to buy it, I knew it was too good to be true.:(

Hopefully going to look at an 06 tomorrow if the dealer will work on the price with me. Damn this **** is a PITA:laugh:

In due time, I just got it LATE monday night. When I sell my Z71 it will be getting 20s/35s with a leveling kit and cognito steering upgrades and a small lift block in the rear. I still want to be able to fit it in the garage.

Yeah me too, the 1100$ exhaust I ordered today, and the 800 bucks worth of other **** kinda slows down the cosmetic stuff:laugh: For doign Daniels cam swap he is going to smooth and paint all the plastics on the truck and paint the bumpers black too, and Im going to smoke the taillights and third brake light too. I probably wont get the lower valance painted or the rear bumper plastic because at teh deer lease the lower valance gets scrapped and the rear bumper pad is used as a step so I could see it flaking easily. The steps are going to be gone when I lift it, Ill get the amp research electric steps, and Im replacing the mirrors with the normal heat/power/folding/turn signal/puddle lamp mirrors once Daniel gets me a price on them. I cant wait for my HIDs for the lows/highs/fogs to come in, Im doing the all on mod, it should put some light down on the road.:LOL:

Are these still around $1200? Those are some nice steps. I was going to get some, but with the sts intake tube running up the side of the truck, I don't think they would've worked for me.

hell yeah thats going to look sick with it all painted. Make sure you take the yellow out of the headlight/turnsignal lenses too

The ones I want are 1300 to my door with the light kit on them, expensive but Im not skimping anywhere on this truck this time. Im getting EXACTLY what I want the first time instead of buying something cheaper then getting the expensive setup later. Thus I just bought an 1100$ exhaust:laugh:

When I get paid friday Im getting Laynlow77 on GMFS to send me some cleared lights, my account is drained right now after ordering all that stuff and putting a decent sized down payment on the truck.

Easy come, easy go... But still, nice ass truck fool! I am sure it will be where you want it within the next few months. I agree on the paint work from Dan...and the exhaust, EFILive, CAI, little lift, HIDs, but 20" wheels is gunna be too much. Just do some 18" wheels and get a 10-ply tire with a taller sidewall...

Gotta have the 20s to fit the 16" wilwood rotors in there that Im getting.:)

Also talked to a trans builder today, when I sell the Z Im getting a built trans first so I can load up a 500rwhp/1100ft-lb tune:devil:

Its me I cant leave anything alone. The need/want for more power has overcome the want for wheels/tires first, Ill still get them before summer but the built trans will allow me to have alot more fun. Apparently 650ish rwhp is where guys start to bend connecting rods on the LLYs, I have an LBZ which has even stronger rods and a reinforced block so I should be a little safer. Ill run one of the 500-550rwhp tunes, just to be on the safe side, I dont want to do a motor swap on the Dmax.:ugh2:

WTF? You are putting 16" Wilwood rotors on it???? Jesus, those bitches will be enormous! But, why the need for 16" rotors? Why not just get some 14" cross drilled/slotted ones and some 18" wheels? Save some cash and use it for other stuff... I just personally wouldn't go as big as 20" wheels on a 3/4 ton 4WD truck... I am not tellin ya what to do, just giving suggestions. But whatever you do, I am sure your truck will look badass!

Because I have alot of weight to stop and it will be even worse with 35s, I want to be able to stop very easily. 14" rotors arent going to make hardly any difference since stock are 13" remember Im not working with 1/2 ton stuff anymore it already ash decent sized brakes stock. The wilwood kit comes with 16" rotors which allows alot more leverage, and they come with 6 piston calipers instead of teh 4 piston calipers that come with some of the other oversized brake kits. Top of the line everything this time, Im not going to skimp, if I have to wait a little longer to get the best thats what Ill do. What does my truck being a 2500 have to do with running 20s? Have you seen a truck like mine with a small lift and 20/35s it looks pretty damn good.

I got the corsa turboback on last night, it sounds like Im driving a jet airplane now:LOL:

Yeah, if you are going to be using the big brakes for what they were designed for---then go get em. I have seen some 15'' ones on trucks before and know that they can stop great, but 16"??? Damn--you'll be able to stop anything now! And with the aid of trailer brakes, you won't have a problem stopping at all! I have seen several 3/4 and 1 ton truck with 20" wheels--and they look good. I am not saying they don't, it just that I would personally run a slightly taller tire than a 35 series for a CCSB 3/4 4WD truck. I would do a 325/75/18 over a 325/35/20 any day of the week. Cody, you gunna be going off road at all? Doing any construction site visits? And mudding??? I know I would!

Remember 15" rotors with 4 piston calipers stop a truck that weighs 2000 less #s then my truck so I need a bit more stopping power to compete with that. Is it over kill? Probably. But if it keeps me from getting in just one wreck or saving some kids life who pulls out in front of me while Im pulling one of my old broncos on a low boy trailer then they will pay for theirself. Plus behind those wheels they will look pimp. No offroading just need 4wd to get back to the deer camp when it rains and the damn road gets slick and itll come in handy when I pour some more power to it.:devil:

It will probably be around May/June before I get to do the lift and new wheels. Depends on my tax return, all the money from the Z71 is going to pay off some stuff and the left is going down on the note for the truck, I want to get this thing paid off by January 2010 so mods from here on out will be to a minimum truck payments suck.
