and so it begins..
Well after many, MANY long days, sleepless nights, and frustrating times working on the truck. It seems to have found its groove.
I figured out what was making that sick ass tapping/clapping noise. Call Jeff up and he told me to pull the valve covers and sure enough two rocker arms had loosened up and were not even seated on the pushrods. I took out the pushrods and made sure they weren't bent, put them back in and tightened them down. Made all but everything go away except this small shutter I was getting. Well last after I got everything right, I pulled out of my driveway to go to my girlfriends house and it started acting up again and acting like it was missing really bad, so I turned around and went back to the house to grab the scan tool to check. Plugged it in, and it showed everything was firing right. I pulled back out of the driveway with it plugged in and everything all but seemed to clear up. It started to run like it was supposed to run. Everything felt so smooth and crisp. I took it out on the freeway, did some runs around town and it was running like a champ. Well jeff was right and it did seem to just work itself out.
And so it begins...

glad you got her running, now for the modding :D

good to hear man, good luck

Congrats dude! It is all worth it now, huh??? That is badass that you took on this project and worked out the kinks by yourself. I bet your mechanical skills have gotten better by now! And since you built it, you will be able to know exactly what is going on... Once again, congratulations!

haha yeah im excited I got it all done. Now I just have to watch it sooooo damn carefully. Make sure everything stays in tip top shape as far as fluids and leaking and the noises it makes. With that v6, I didnt really worry so much because everything was factory specs, so yeah, just gotta pay more attention now

That's awesome man - congratulations! Gotta get it to the track now!

welcome back to the road david.....
that truck has come a long way since the good ol days around Blanco Hall
congrats man... now i gotta come down and see how it runs against my slow turd :D

Alan--your truck would be alot faster if you put the posi in...Teena said she'd crawl under the truck and help you... She said that she is good at packing your bearings...hehehe
-
Awesome David! When are you going to see Nelson?
-
What you talkin about your truck being slow alan? Did you do a 5.3 to 4.3 swap?
Daniel, I got it tuned before I even started on the swap. I took him the PCM and had it back a couple days later. Its pretty cool. It fired right up after a while, and after a few troubleshooting things I had to take care of, it started running badass. Im gonna go by, or maybe meet him at the track to get him to fine tune it once I get the gears and posi in.

Hey ducky, I got a posi you could have for $100. But there's a few catches - you gotta come down here and pull it yourself and leave me your stock unit. It's an Eaton posi with motive 4.10 gears(it's a little over 1 year old). I'm a few hours SW of San Antonio. Let me know if you're interested, it may not be here for long(insurance will be picking it up soon).
