Thinking of changing cams

I currently have a comp cam 212/218 cam. I'm thinking of changing to a vinci 220/224 551 lift. Do you all think it would be worth the change? My best time has been a 13.5@101 with a 1.9 60ft. in hot weather with the 212. Any one running this vinci cam? What do you all think, good idea, bad idea??

I like the 224/224 .581/.581 114 cam myself. You need about a 3200 stall but it's definitely a sweety with some 918 springs.

Whats the difference between the 918 and ls6 springs. I already have the ls6 springs i think.(yellow springs right). Thats why i would like to go with this cam and the lift, but I don't know if it will be worth it , if i would just see little gains. I plan on adding a vig. 3200 stall also.

the 918s can sustain alot more beating, alot higher lift...the LS6 springs can sustain up to .570...you should get the 222/224 or the 220/220....me like 220/220 :smile: :smile:

The reason I wanted a lower lift cam was so that I won&#39;t have to change the springs, haha

918s will handle a max lift of about .600". The LS6 yellow springs would be collapsed way before then, .570 I believe it is.

why not build your tranny first compadre, but good luck if you do swap cams.

I&#39;m going to have to get a built tranny with stall first. Then i might wana change cams.

hey guys i just got an offer for a 222/224 563 lift cam. Should I stick with the LS6 springs or go for 918&#39;s?

I&#39;d go for 918 or LS6 springs as a minimum. Your stock springs won&#39;t handle the lift of .563. I prefer the 918s.

I currently have the ls6, thats why i asked, so that i won&#39;t have to buy some new one&#39;s. So that way if i get the cam i can just change the cam and not springs.

If you already have the yellow LS6 installed, don&#39;t bother changing to the 918s for that cam unless they&#39;ve got a ton of miles on them.

Thanks for all the help Red, I guess i&#39;ll be keeping my LS6 springs.
