thanks bud.just go ahead and rub it in lol!
so im trying to get this wiring stuff in order but its killing me! im trying to use my original obs fuse box for the starter and fuel pump relays.
heres a pic of the wiring
heres the location of the relays
http://i1105.photobucket.com/albums/...y/IMAG0605.jpg
on my harness i have a relay for the fuel pump already and just a grey wire sticking out. where do i connect it to on the stock fuse box. im guessing i would be bypassing the relay on the fuse box since i have one on the harness. what color wire would the stock fuel pump wire be that i need to connect the grey wire from the harness to???
i should be able to use the original starter wire from the truck. if not what do i do??
i have a connector on my harness labeled "vss" im guessing it plugs into the trans. but on my harness i have a dark green wire that also says vss. so im guessing the connector to the trans gives the pcm the signal and the green one is for the speedo?
has anyone done this before??

I know on the 92-93 the grey wire goes directly to the fuel pump as a power source.
havent updated this in a while. been waiting on a few parts to come in the mail to tie this thing a thing all up.
had to order a new timing cover because....
http://i1105.photobucket.com/albums/...y/IMAG0614.jpg
and i broke the coil with one of the chains from the hoist
http://i1105.photobucket.com/albums/...y/IMAG0615.jpg
also i was going to hook up my power steering pump today and realized on my obs i have 2 lines but on the lm7 there are 3 different connections on the ps pump...any help on this?
http://i1105.photobucket.com/albums/...y/IMAG0613.jpg
so im still pretty much at a standstill. got the core support and bumper fenders and hood all bolted up finally. just sent out the pcm to get re programmed. waiting on my timing cover starter and coil. talk to a guy at jims performance and he told me how to sort out the wiring.

youre not done yet
what did you learn about the wiring? i just started tearing into the truck harness to see what i have to keep & what has to be removed.
i had to get a harness from pull a part since i sold mine with my motor so his swap would be all plug & play for him. little did i realize at the time i was still going to need part of my harness.
ok i think i figured out the PS issue. i believe this motor came from a truck that had hydroboost so that third connection had something to do with the brakes...i dont know for sure just something i remembered when i was looking into hydroboost. can i just cap it off or what should i do?
basically the guy i talk to told me what pins to remove from the obs pcm and plug it straight into the ls pcm. makes for a really easy install without having to splice tomany wires.i have all the info scattered over a few emails. once i get it all compiled together ill make a thread. ill try to do it today.
Real nice step by step progress and pics that makes sense. I will be doing this swap to my 89 GMC RC/Sportbed soon just need a lil motivation. LOL.
thanks! i wouldnt have been able to do it without the help from this site! hopefully i can motivate others as well. im not a super mechanic by any means and im working with the most basic tools and i havent faced any major hurdles til today when i tried to remove the harmonic balancer. dont know how im going to get this thing off without and impact gun
may be a dumb question, but is it reverse thread?
doesn't say anything about reverse threads but does say you may need an extender bar for more leverage & a puller to get it off.

I put a chain through the balancer and to the frame and then take the handle from my floor jack and slip it over my breaker bar to loosen the bolt. Goes from the drivers side fender towards the passenger side when the breaker bar handle is is pointed up.
Also a small 6 gallon or larger compressor works wonders. I have a 13 gallon (used $35) and it helped me R&R my stock suspension to a 6 inch lift plus 3 inch body lift. All done by myslef. Invest in small but quality tools. Keep up the progress bruh.
When we did mine, a compressor wasn't enough. It took a 4' cheater to break mine free.
yea im in the middle of relocating to another state so cant really spend too much on tools. finally getting out this stupid apartment and getting a conda with a garage! then the fun will begin. i got a 68 mallibu i want to do a frame off restoration too. but everything been on hold while i wait on some parts to come in the mail. hopefully when i get everything together this thing runs
Good luck, around here if you try to work on a vehicle in a condo garage you'll be in violation of terms of the rental/lease contract.
I know what you mean I had to barrow sis's driveway for a while (with all her whining "is it done yet") til she needed a water pump changed. LOL yeah that helps when you can work it off! lol
so put in some more work today. got the fuel filter hooked up changed the timing cover gasket and bolted up all the accessories. no pics today..i was working full throttle. gotta get this thing ready for jan 1st. every year in los angeles theres a huge street car show. i want to be able to show this thing off..no hiccups thus far.
Thats why i live in oklahoma and have 160 acres, nobody can tell me shiz  i almost went to jail when i lived in cali, and decided to change my water pump in the apt parking lot
haha you think LA is crazy so you are moving to vegas?! I think you are a little confused
ok so today i got a little more work done. got the pedal mounted...well kind of...i put it in the stock location but theres only 1 bolt holding it in. gotta figure out how i can get the second bolt in there. heres some pics tho!

Wow your getting closer :thumb:
Good build thread!
When are you putting the headers in? Im curious to see how the fitment is with the 4wd
thanks!
i already put them in before and they fit great. ill put them back in today and take a pic for ya! on the driver side they clears the front dif with no problem. i went with the pacesetter lts.
heres a shot from the bottom when i put them in before.
http://i1105.photobucket.com/albums/...y/IMAG0565.jpg
Is there an o2 bung on them. did u get them off summit? and do you know the part number for them?
That would be awesome. I wasn't going to go with Shoenfeld because a lot of people complained about the fitment issues in 4x4s. I was just going to run manifolds but now im thinking Ill do those pacesetters. Do you know what exact application they were for, or were they for this specific swap
part number 70-2265. they are for 99-06 fullsize chevy. yea the schoenfeids will not work with 4wd at all. they dont clear the front differential. only downside to them is the coating. i would definately suggest hetting them coated because mine are already showing some surface rust.
