Dang you beat me to puttin an obs ls swap on YouTube. (not that it would be the first one but maybe the first one labeled so)
lol sorry man.
imma pick up my belt today if it doesnt cost an arm and a leg. also MAY have to get a custom powersteering line for the pressure side..we'll see. i have to fab a CAI, put exhaust, retune it
well the parts place cant seem to get a power steering hose with the fittings that i need. so, i cut them apart and put new hydro fittings on it. if it doesnt work how i have it, ill just get a custom on from Napa. i tried to get one for a 2002 chevy but thats a dealer part according to the parts place by the house.
the belt i used for stock ALT/AC off the 94, stock power steerig pump off of the 5.3, 08 water pump, stock crank pulley, tensioner, is a 1090k6 after what seemed like 2000 different belts.
imma get the truck up and runnin tomorrow with the CAI fabbed up and the speedo should be hooked up if Redheartbeats advice on page 12 is correct for my hunk of junk.
imma get insurance back on it tomorrow i hope and i should be able to drive it to work tuesday night :)
Awesome.
My old ps lines/fittings worked with my new pump. Yours didn't?
What about exhaust?
i had a bad pressure line on mine, i cut the lines bc whoever put it on striped the pump side out so i wasnt gonna fight it. my powersteering line is the same fitting size on both sides, the one the parts store has is a smaller fitting (back of pump) into a bigger fitting (1/2" or so) my gear box requires the same small fitting. they asked if i had hydroboost wth this ole junk didnt have that...not a 94 V6 huh? my old ps hose went into the frame rail and made like 2 loops it was a PITA to cut out lol.
exhaust is going to be 3" custom Y into a 3" magnaflow 22" long turned down right before the rear end. hopefully the exhaust shop has the 3bolt flanges to weld to the LT/new Y pipe, plus another one to break away the exhaust system from the Y pipe. im also not going to do the typical Y pipe that curves under the tranny before the tranny mount. im going to run it under the tranny mount, around the tail shaft, then into a Y
well the truck moves and shifts into 2nd smoothly. (road was short didnt wanna drive too far) my e fans didnt come on, but then again its not connected to the AC like NP says to do, it is connected to the blue connector pin 42. i think it should come on through the ecm i dunno. any help?
my ac panel lights up with the key off but then again the black wire for my AC stuff is grounded to the firewall(which i took as a ground but it may not be)
also my water temp sensor isnt in my water pump anymore, i moved it to the T for the coolant jug, the heater core, an the water pump. should that sensor be grounded to the block, like it should be installed in the old TBI intake vs a head and such? imma try an jump a wire from the sensor itself to the block and see if thats what it needs. if not then imma tap intothe NP harness an hope the sensor in the drivers head doesnt trip out an lets my gauge read the temp.
any help on these problems please gimme some input! im not a wiring person
hell yea man nice swap GO BIG OR GO HOME!
thank you sir, if i ever pull this motor its getting a 6.0 i wish i woulda went 6.0 instead but live and learn.
when i take it for exhaust ill get pics of it
Its moving! Awesome!
For the fans, Id contact Nelson to see exactly how its supposed to be wired up.
Lol your ac/heater dash panel lights up all the time?! How did you do that??
So whats the problem with the temp sensor?? Its not giving a reading or what? Are you asking if the sensor is self grounding? As far as I know its not. I dunno what you did cause I didnt mess with the wiring for mine at all just plugged it in and it worked. I think if you tap into the new harness it will give a false reading. Why dont you just put the dang thing in the passenger head like I did??!! It works and is easy you just need an adapter or tap it for the right size.
heads are on the truck so thats a no go, adapter will be in the way bc of how close the head is. also i got it fixed, they sold me the wrong sensor. it kept throwing the belt and it broke my tensioner. i bought a tensioner for an 06 5.3 works fine after i shimed it and blah blah. well i also swapped to an idler pulley on the tensioner vs the Josh supplies with the kit. i dunno if anyone else had those problems but it would allow the belt to walk, and itd jump over 1 rib on the AC compressor. i think its fixed now bc i went drive it around and got in it from a stop a lil.
as far as the AC i dunno all i did was cut the black wire that was bundled up in the old harness. i ran it to a ground but i guess its not right.
i have a green wire that goes into a white fuse like block that has a blak wire coming out then it goes to the clutch. another green wire that goes into the pressure sensor i think and has a black wire. i jumped the 2 black wires together and put it to ground, 5v, and 12v nothing happened. i didnt jump a 12v to the clutch to see if it works or not so we'll see tonorrow after i get exhaust done. i really want my AC vs anything else lol.
so i dunno how i have full control over te heater/AC/an fan without the key on. i didnt cut nething on the inside and i made sure i seperated the whole AC wires. i dunno if its low bc the trucks been sitting for 7-9months i cant remember. i didnt break any lines so do yall think it evaperated being that i had the compressor laying on the fender well?
awesome! i'm sure the little things won't be too hard to fix now.
ground the blue wire on the fan harness, if both fans turn on LOW, it's working, probably a setting or a ground somewhere or the pin not pushed into the pcm connector.
ya, i believe the sensor needs to be grounded on the block or anywhere else, if it's a one wire sensor.
well my new tensioner, idler pulley on the tensioner and the pulley off of the tensioner are doing a good job. i used a 1090k6 belt and its working perfectly.
im currently at the exhaust shop getting custom 3" exhaust put on with 3bolt flanges added to the LTs and Y pipe, hes gonna put a 02 style Y pipe coupling on it so i can change the exhaust or pull down the y pipe alone.
so exhaust consists of 1 3/4" LTs into 3" y pipe into a 3" SI/SO 22 or 24" magnaflow (cant remember) turned down by the axle
the bad thing is you wont hear the cam but it does make it the perfect sleeper imo
Why won't you hear the cam? Mine is basically the same way and you can hear mine. Not as much as if it were a bullett style muffler but still.
Allen, yeah i got it fixed :) my tuner told me i was special bc i wouldnt let the truck warm up without the gauge working so the pcm wouldnt tell the fans to come on LMAO. well it works like suppose to! i didnt wanna burn the motor up so after 15 and they didnt come on i shut the truck off lol.
the AC is what has me confused now, imma ground the black wire and make sure im getting 12v to the green wires after i get home and get to tinkering with it.
i wanna take it to the track tonight (just to put miles on it) but all my buddys are working or doing something so if it breaks down ill be stranded lol.
it runs strong for a stock tune with extra fuel an no MAF plugged in(open headers) but after the exhaust it should do a lot better.
bc its only a 113+4LSA not a 112 sir
220/224 .585.588 113+4 so theres no lope to it
exhaust work ia finished and it sounds SO much better. its also quieter than my CC lol

it sounds good imo...i love the way the Y pipe was done vs a 90* bend.
i got the A/C working perfectly...i had to have Napa make a custom A/C hose for me because i didnt like how it was routed by the fender well and the frame.
i got my throttle cable worked out too...so it's awsome to be able to DD this thing without any issues other than slack in the steering wheel and it being on 3:42s vs 4:10s like i hoped to have done soon.
i owe a big thanks to Redheartbeat/FarmTruc for all their help and answering my questions. without them id still be working on this hunk of junk.
Thought you were selling this thing? Changed your mind? Great!
Did you make that air intake?
i was going to but i got to tinkering with it so its where i want it other than the gears :) i love the way it drives and its realible so its a keeper
Awesome setup! This is very similar to what I'm aiming for... roughly how much cash do you think you've got in this?
7-7500 roughly. i had to swap lifters bc i had a motor with DOD and i didnt think about that. i was going to keep it stock but i came across a cam for cheap so i had to do it.
