Yeah--DUH! That is THE best way to do it. But make sure that you get the timing dots lined up before you flip it...and then check the timing dots one more time after you flip it...you how about the timing dots, right?

I actually wondered to myself if that would work. Duh. The timing dots are those like dippin dots? JK
My tech read the installation of cam link from LS1 tech so I am sure he got the idea. Thanks again guys.
Dude, Dippin Dots are freakin good!
Anyways, if you gave your tech the LS1howto, then I am sure he got everything lined up just fine...
I just wish he would get over pneumonia. My window of time to get the engine swapped is fading fast. I Close on the new house the 14th and well I will have to wait till a month or so after if it isn't completed by then. I think my dumbass would screw something up if I did it alone.
3 Great things should happen in April. in this order.
#1 Get engine put in.
#2 Close on house with 2 car garage. " Engine can be put in at work" Garage does not matter as far as that is concerned.
#3 Get fixed/visectomy.:slice::LOL: I am not sure what I am the most excited about.
OK Rant over.
Well damn Zeake, this isn't Dr. Phil where you come on here and talk about your problems in your personal life...
J/K man...sorry to hear the sickness got a hold of you--get well soon mayne.
And closing on a house and getting everything moved is a hassle and takes up A LOT of time. Get you other chit taken care of, but make sure to get back on to the engine build ASAP!
Oh damn...say it isn't SO! You actually have to work??? I would complain to management...
Atleast after this month you can raw dog it without worrying about getting your wife pregnant:D
Lq9 cam change - Putfile.com
Is this much blow by normal. Keep in mind I have no idea what I am doing. I am just trying to make progress using the ls1tech how to as a guide.
Cam is out. Got to go get some cleaner and lube for the new cam.
That is not normal. Try hitting the top of the valves with a wooden hammer handle to reseat the valve. Maybe it has some dirt in it.
no doubt, smack those valve a couple times with a rubber mallet. If it doesnt quit you need a valve job.
OMG Zeake...I have NEVER seen blow-by that bad...EVER. Yeah, I always take a rubber mallet (or regular hammer... :) ) and give the top of the valve stems a little tap-tap. It reseats them like everyone else it talking about.
That is air leaking past the piston rings. Not out of the ordinary. Put a couple drops of oils in the cylinder and most of it goes away.
On a side note, watching your video, saw this one too and almost fell out of my chair. Crazy Boy Friend - Putfile.com
Ok, now that sounds better... You may proceed sir!

Thank you sir.
X2 looks good
Thank you sirs. If yall were close by I'd have to furnish some Alcohol Tobacco and some firemarms and we'd swap a motor. As it is who knows when I'll be able to.
OK another stupid question. Is there a gasket in between the oil pump and the block? If there isn't I get to take it back off and redo it. At least it is only lock tite and not the motor installed.
Yeah, there should be an o-ring between the pump and the oil pick up screen...
...but no gasket between the pump and the block unless you have one of the performance double roller cam chain kits that have a spacer for the fuel pump.
Well still no swap. Planning for wednesday. I talked to a guy about helping me do it. He is willing and a far better mechanic than me.
Ordered 2 aerochambers 3" gonna sell my single.
2 mandrel bent 180's
a magnaflow 3" x pipe
Also talked to my buddys at the quick lube social club about doing the exhaust for me cause. I could do it but would prefer to leave this to the pros. . . . . . . . . . ...wait wait wait wait wait wait wait I hate it but I gotta wait a few more days.
MMMMMMM..call me crazy, but it looks like an LQ9 is sitting in someone's engine bay!!!! Now that it is in there--you can start bolting everything on...
Update. The 6.0 is in I give it an A+ but I am phenin for more. I am not sure that it will take the SS as it is. I have not removed the whipple electronics. That should give it a huge leap forward. The exhaust did not get run the way I wanted. . .. But thats just as well I see a turbo soon. Real soon. Well I have to finish painting my new house, put carpet in, Install all of the new appliances. Move. All buy Friday morning. Oh yeah I forgot to mention I have to work 8 am till 6 pm every day.
Damn this engine swap has pushed more than 4 thousand and I smell plastic burning... That card must be sitting on that new turbo from trick performance.
Oh--my understanding was that you were going to put the Whipple on the LQ9? Are you running the 42lb injectors still?
Wow..busy week ahead--good luck with it all.
42lb inj. The whipple needs cooling. It has none. Not to mention it is only making 4lbs of boo0st when it was at 8 with the 5.3.
thats alright though I have it sold and placed the deposit on a Street stalker kit today. Trick Perf is the way to go.
Fastest truck on the sight is running there kit. It has to be good.
Gotchya. :thumb:
The Trick FMT will be nice! Make sure to wrap the headers before you put them on...
