anyway, are you lightning a candle to the 60e......
Be real, this is not "OEM stuff endure sissy driving and long miles !!!!".
We are about performance, 60e stock under our trucks with performance modes are a NO NO.
Or you beef it up, or upgrade it for 80e under mild to heavy performance conditions (th400 is also an option, and some rainbow guys prefered the Powerglide)
My oem 60e endure over 200K miles of heavy duty and some time to time race, on a ALL STOCK engine.
After a few mods, I kissed bye bye......
So, if you own a total Stock truck, change trans oil every 15K miles, and keep fluids in safe temp range, (and yours is not a CC 4wd houling 7K Lbs everyday) chances are 60e gonna live a happy long life.
Other wise, NOT
The 60 in my 99 ECSB held up for the 145k that I put her through. When I sold it, it was still strong. Only Problems I ever had were towards the end of 1500 mile road trips. It felt like it would start slipping a little bit under heavy throttle. I was never nice to it. It was a stock 4.8 though.
My stock 60e has 165k on it. It gives trouble under full throttle from a stop. However, if I am rolling it never slips. Going to rebuild it when I pull the motor out this next month.
got a 408 with my 60 with billet servos shift kit 3200 yank 9 clutches in 3,4 and beast sun shell holding so far been rapping it every day
im on my 3rd 60e in a year and a half and i wont mess with another one, 1 oe with vette servo and hd2 and 2 performabuilts, the performabuilt lvl2 in it now is about 2 months old and i dont see it holding up for 2 more months (not happy with it at all). my 97 silverado ecsb with boltons on the other hand i sold at 150+k of pure hell, constant wot, 1 fluid change and trailers that needed a 1 ton dually puking black smoke and 50k underneath the teenager i sold it to and still flawless.
QUOTE "Why on earth would GM put such an anemic transmission in a heavy ½ ton truck, Avalanche, or Escalade?
These transmissions barely hold up to the punishment a stock LSX based engine generates. Now add a few modifications to it, trust me, it won’t last long.
It’s great the new generation GM trucks with LSX engine variants are probably the most reliable and powerful engines out, but it would be nice if these transmissions would last a little longer."
