Need help with PowerGlide/Converter NO GEARS

when the trans out remove the converter and try and "turn" the imput shaft while installed in the trans.. park it should not turn and as you put it neutral and drive it should turn and possibly watch the imput shaft to turn.. Also if the trans is installed.... with or without fluid see if the truck will roll on its own when its on the flood? i know you said the truck does not move under its own power but is it in a bind??...... What type of transbreak does it have? Do you have to Hit the switch to make it back up?? They have old school trans brakes also there is a Pro tree transbrakes they are different...

Trans out and in PARK with shaft in trans: Does not turn.
Lever in Drive, it will turn the rear output shaft.
When in Reverse, it will not turn output shaft cause the solenoid needs to be engaged like you mentioned, but that does work.

Everything seems to work fine.

I doubt it, but wonder if a line is clogged.
When I tested the pressure last night, fluid was coming out of the trans, but in a bucket, I didn't allow it to go through the coolers and down the return line, just a thought.

well... i have seen a HUGE pressure drops with the converter.... yes could be fluid... remove the imput shaft and put the converter on the bench and see how it turns..

The trans guy has the transmission.
Circle D has the converter.

We'll see what they find out.

The trans high gear clutches were worn, and a valve was stuck, something about something that feeds fluid to the converter, not sure on the details.

He said he didn't like the valvebody, suggested I get a TCI or Hughes valve body, what do you guys think?
He also said there was a mark on the pump area indicating the converter could have balloned a bit, something like that.

Stuck valve could cause major issues... its allways good to start with a name brand valve body.. but alot of guys think they can hack together a manual transbrake valve body.... it will work for a while..... I dont use TCI in anything.......... BTE,hughes,Coan,ATI ...

I just bought a Pro trans PG TCI valvebody today.
Just so you know, the BTE and TCI are the same valvebody, just one has a colored plate. They were out of Hughes or I would have gotten that one.

Circle D said converter was in good condition, no sign of balloning, height was good, pump snout, etc. He's welding it back together and shipping it back, THANKS C-D!

The trans builder has used tci, bte, and hughes before, he's comfortable with all of them. The valvebody my PG had (from an unknown builder) wasn't in the best condition.

I should get it all together this week.

I'll clean the lines out just in case and make sure it's full.
