gonna wait for any tuning, my new lq9 just got here! need to swap out cams, port heads and reassymble. ill take it back for tweaking after the swap is done. but for now, the convertor made one heck of a difference in take off and overall driveability. thanks for everyones input.

not sure on that. since im a chrysler dealer, i called my gm dealer, (we go thru the same guy in wholesale for the past 4 years) and explained that i heard the trailblazer was a good upgrade for a mild truck. he was familiar with my situation, rattled off a gm part # and said it came from a inline 5. i told him i thought it was the tbss convertor. he said it wouldnt stall any higher than a stock verter, but the one from an inline 5 would stall about 2600 behind a mild 5.3 or stock 6.0. i ordered it, came in a gm box brand new. installed it and now i can spin the holly sh#t out of my tires. great upgrade for the money. gm # is 24228708. if any of you guys work at a gm dealer, maybe you can plug in this number and see what exactly it fits to clear up this dispute.
$226 from Gm PArts direct. Doenst say what its from. You want the TC from an iline 6 cylinder engine.
The TBSS TC would actually stall lower than your stock TC.
I use the V6 S10 TC in my truck and get 2700 rpm footstall speeds at WOT, rear tires NOT turning. Stock L31 stalls at around 1500 rpm at WOT.
Nice gaisn in acceleration and much less rpm drop during WOT upshifts keeping my engine in its powerband instead of dropping below it. Same premise of the I-6 TC swap.

Excuse me if I ask a stupid question. Will that stall work with a 4l60e tranny. I've got a cammed 5.3l with a few mods and I have the same problem being a dog off the line. How hard was the install?Quote:

The 4200 (4.2) is a 6-cylinder engine. They were made from 2002 to now. The 5-cylinder engine in the Colorado/Canyon is/was 3.5L and the 4-cylinder is/was 2.8L. See the similarity? Each cylinder 700cc. The Trailblazer came with a 6 or an 8.
The application is 2002+ S/T chassis with 4.2L engine. Full GM list is $387.78 + $100.00 core charge (may be able to skip that by turning in the old one).
