Any updates on this?
Yeah u have had a couple of days to work on it lol. Anything new? Was actually reading another LS10 swap on pt.net i think it was 00blackcamaross. Reminded me of ur build so i came to see what was going on with urs.
the motor is almost done. waiting on some .025 shims so i can get the lifter preload right. .050 shims that they supplied was only .025 preload and no shims at all was at .100 preload so my math says .025 should set it in the perfect area. this is using 7.750 pushrods.

got some done on the truck over the weekend. pulled the front clip and bed, leaned the cab back. the motor is loose but the starter wouldnt clear the motor mount and i was running out of daylight so i called it quits. about 15 minuts of work and the motor/trans will be laying on the ground.

Thats purdy
Looks good! I am curious to see how it turns out!
Coming along slowly but surely!
Nice build. Mine is similar just a first gen though.
have a build thread anywhere? i originally wanted a first gen but couldnt pass this truck for the price/condition.
Yeah i aint seent too many first gen s10 lsx swaps. I have one and benn thinkin about it.
I've always wanted to do this. looks awesome!
It's hard to tell, do you have the steering shaft hooked up and how well does it clear? Where are you planning to mount the coil packs? Looks good sitting in there!
the cab is lifted/tilted back about 8" so the steering shaft is currently disconnected. notice the wood blocks between the frame and cab. I hope to put the coil packs in the OEM location. we will see what the clearance looks like once i install the trans and drop the cab back down.
very nice project. I dont like the way those headers have two tubes going outside the frame rails, as tire clearance get to be an issue, but otherwise should be a sweet little truck.
Im in the finishing stages of a 96 S10 Ext cab with a 408 T56 swap, stock 8.5 rear with a true track and 4:56 gears. Nelsons did the tune, but im currently having some issues with the LTFT being pegged at 25%.
Did you get the rear axles redrilled to be 5 on 4.75 or will you just leave them 5 on 4.5?
i didnt have much choice on the headers. i refuse to get tfs heads then choke them off with a 1 3/4 header. i will be running skinnies up front anyways so steering shouldnt be an issue. also decided to go full manual steering since i will be running skinnies.
i got another short side axle last weekend so i can cut down the drivers side 3". i may have the axles redrilled at that time since it will be apart. the ford lug pattern doesnt bother me though so who knows...
Your thread really makes me want to do a v8 swap in my 01 s10, keep up the great work!
got all of the front accessories modified, painted and installed over the weekend. also got the transmission bolted up but i'm not thrilled about how the trans crossmember fits. i am sending some pictures to hedman today to show the fitment of the trans crossmember. maybe they had a bad batch of crossmembers? i had to use a wratchet strap to pull the trans 1/2" over to get it to bolt to the trans mount. then it gives the drivers collector a mile of clearance but the passenger side is tight. it also seems like it is leaning to the passenger side. who knows. they may say it's normal but after how great thier motor mounts fit i doubt it.

Doesn't exactly look like that crossmember went through the strictest quality control
Do you have any recent pictures of the engine swap? I'm wondering what the hood clearance will be, any issues? I'm building a 6.0 for my sonoma with the same intake, carb setup.
yeah here is one with the cab dropped back down. should be plenty clearance with the super vic.

nice build dude really clean.
one question what made you go over to a carb?
EFI definately has advantages with fuel efficiency but i'm not building a prius-it's a hotrod! there's probably a reason that some of the top dog drag racers with 25,000 engines still strap a carb up on top. i will have the wideband hooked up and can tune this ignition system with a laptop. you can set custom timing tables based on rpm or by MAP readings. it also has a 2 step built in along with a timing delay trigger that can pull timing at the flip of a switch. single plane intakes SWALLOW cams that EFI has problems idling on and best of all, i can tune it all by myself! no more shooting e-mails back and forth with my tuner to get my truck running better because i have no clue how to hell to use HP tuners lol. if something isnt right, i'll pull out my damn screw driver and fix it right there. also, the throttle response of a properly tuned carb is insane.
it was mostly a $ thing also. the vic jr will flow better and distribute nitrous better than a 102 fast. it will also have a higher RPM range and generally the single plane/carb setup makes ~20 hp more than EFI from what i've read. all that at a much lower price. i have a whopping $450 into my intake and carb. how much would a 102 intake/throttle body and injectors set you back? then all of the wiring to go along with efi is not cheap if you don't know how to do it yourself. carb just made more sence to me since i'm not going F/I. who knows. i may get it running and decide to convert to EFI because i dont like carb. this is my first rodeo w/ a carb.
clicky. it's good to hear it make noise (even if it's only for 3 seconds)

Any updates?
its a start!!!
no, it's been sitting while i'm busy on the weekends. i did find some time last weekned to install the upper control arms. the entire suspension at this point is new except for the front springs that i re-used. I also went ahead and threw on the front runners. finally something shiney on this pickup!

Thoe front runners look good. Cant wait to see em with the sheetmetal back on it.
i do have this one. laid a fender on with 2 bolts, then laid the hood on top just to see how the drop would look up front. the pic is with the OEM uppers and it dropped some more with the new uppers. the oem bushings were overtorqued and in a bind. it settled good with the uppers. just wish i had the front wheels on the truck for this picture.

Looks good! What size are the front runners?
15x4 wheel with 26x6-15 tires.
maybe one day i will have both the fenders and the bed on. starting to look like a truck again! cant mount the tire because the it's stuffed into the frame. should sit perfect with the wider 8.8. spacers will work until then. the rear end should drop some more after the 16 gallon fuel cell, battery relocation and rear bumper. also the spring sliders will drop it another 1/2" or so. i want to throw the front fenders on but i have a ton of cleaning to do on the garage now that i have it back.

I have the same IR air compressor...
Nice Work !
Lookin mean!
Nice dime, this thread makes me miss my 350 .40 over 84 s10 blazer.
I like the updated front end, I always hated the sealed beams on the 2nd gen. S10s
Maybe after I finish my current project ill find another first gen blaze.
I have a question for you tho, who's your tranny guy?
I need my tranny built and don't know/trust any trans shops locally. Im close enough to Houston to make a quick drive up there.
Pm me with some info if you don't mind.
it started out as a lvl7 65e from FLT. it needed new clutches so i sent it to Vince B on pt.net for the rebuild/transbrake and extra billet internals. Vince originally built it for FLT, and has put his own touches inside of it since then, so it is now officially a Vince B transmission B)
