Oh yeah, took the PI Vig torque converter out and put the stock one back in until I can get this one redone for turbo application. I hate to see the converter go but it was all wrong for a turbo'd engine.
gonna be running stock verter at sar?
yessir, if it get it back together by then. Got the fuel pumps in today though the tank is not in yet. I did it so different than most have done. I don't have time to take pics but I stripped the stock fuel bucket down to nothing and put both bosch pump inside it and drilled a couple 3/4" holes in the side of it and opened the bottom one up to 3/4" also. I put -8 x 90 bulkhead fittings in the fuel tank and have the original fuel pump feed now setup as a return location with a crimp fitting. The bulkhead fittings are through the top of the plastic tank, not through the fuel pump assembly.
Well, had issues with the trans. I put the stock converter back in it and something wasnt right and the front pump burned up. Got the PI Vigilante stall redone very tight and 3200 stall. I'll get a new pump and have it back together shortly then I can start the turbo install.
red,
Why will the front pump burn?
Fluid restriction or the pump wasn't seated properly? It's supposed go click....click....click, not click....click
The pilot on the convertor had a dent in it and caused the converter to wobble.
Fixed again
:)
Awesome to hear buddy. Now it's time to :burnrub:
Now to find the dead miss in my engine, be it an injector not firing, cracked spark plug or what. When it rains its pours. :)
The miss was due to a bad tune download. The code was related to a bad #8 injector control circuit. Downloaded the tune again and no more miss. Now to fix the exhaust leak on the driver side. It seems the copper ring between the exhaust flanges is good for only one compression. :(
whats up with the WT :D
pretty much nothing. Need to hang the new turbo on it and run some tubing then send it off for tuning. :(
Hey Greg, what a question......
Since you have obs and nbs, do you think swaping an obs 14 bolt to a nbs is doable?
In terms of width...
Some say obs are narrow than nbs !
OBS 4wd is 3" narrower, OBS 2wd is 6" narrower.
yeah, a custom set of wheels will be required but it could be done. Why not just get one out of a GMT800 body style since they're pretty much the same? There are plenty of those NBS 14 bolt rear ends floating around these days.
Frenchy,
Is this 3" per side or 1.5" per side?
I was in the east coast looking for one......but no luck.....they don't have it in Saks or Nostrom...so I ran out of options hahahaha, and the Lady Boss didn't let me go anywere else.
Can you get one for me.?
Open carrier , no special ratio, bcause i want to upgrade the axles, carrier and gears...also overhaul all bearings....
Help !

Last tech info is 4x4 nbs and obs are 68 1/4" From wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface.
The spring perches are off...but can be relocated......can anyone confirm this?
Start a new thread, you're filling my garage full of crap. I can hardly get around in here. LOL
That's the whole reason the GARAGE used to only be able to be posted in by the author.
Ok ok....stop your rant...ask the new mods to errase my post...no biggy

Stop hacking your garage dude...awful
Hmmm....I'm still waiting for pics. :) Hell, you're having more fun for me than I am lately. :(
well, tried to install the turbo today but found it's too wide to mount the way I wanted to mount it, crossways. Now I'm going to have to mount it with the intake side forward and exhaust straight out the back using a 90 degree exhaust elbow under the hot side, reducing ground clearance a bit.
Is this your rear mount setup or something different?
its the 94mm precision turbo I am replacing the STS rear mount turbo with. Goodbye 6776 ball bearing turbo, Hello 94mm journal bearing turbo.
This one... http://www.ls1truck.com/forums/showt...911#post405911
Looks like I need a 90 deg SS 3" diameter exhaust elbow, a 4" x 90 deg x 3" silicone reducer, a 3" x 90 deg x 2.5" reducer, (2) 3" t-bolt clamps and (1) 4" t-bolt clamp. :( mo' money mo' money mo' money.
Why are you getting rid of the ballbearing turbo? Too small for your needs and too expensive to replace with another bb unit?
way too small for what I want in the future and yes, the 94mm in ballbearing costs 2.5 x what I paid for this one. I can handle a half second of lag for $1800 less money.
Everything seems to be coming together for you Greg. Congrats.
I hope that it just stays together for a change.
Found a 4" x 90 degree x 2.5" reducer for $18 on Ebay! :woot:
Ordered a 3" x 90 degree SS elbow and 4.5-4.15 T-bolt clamp off SummitRacing so all is coming in the mail shortly. :)
finally got the 94 installed. The cold side had a 7" standard diesel flange on it so I had to build a custom K&N air cleaner. The hot side is a T-5 flange with a 5" exhaust flange reduced down to 4" for now. I may get a 5" diesel tailpipe to put on it later but for now it's choked down. The big Precision wastegate is just puking to the wind for now. Maybe I'll plumb it in later or just put a turn down on it, not decided yet.
Yeah, drain piping is leaking a bit. One more thing to fix. :nutz:

damn greg that thingis awesome! get a WOT with that wastegate open!
what scavenge pump are you using on there Greg?
pardon my retardation of turbos, does this one got a different name like mid mount???
STS considers that a rear mount even though its before the axle. Some cars are done behind the axle and its still a rear mount. If it's close to the engine they call it a mid mount and then there is the infamous front mounts you typically see on here.
The pump is an EXA-PUMP from TurboWerx.
so how's it feel and drive, hurry and post it up! it's looking good.
