Amen on that one I know there are a few of us that work in the oil and gas field he for sure aint gonna be looking out for us. Yeah the tax% thing is :bsflag:. Its not my fault that I found something that I was good at and paid well. Then I have to pay for people that dont work. Drives me nuts
No, it is "your fault." You went out, found something you're good at, work hard day in and day out, and are successful because of it. This is the thing that drives me crazy about liberals. They don't understand the concept of hard-working people who go out and earn what they get. In a perfect left wing world, the guy who sits on the street corner twiddling his thumb gets as big a slice of the pie as the guy who makes something of himself and fulfills his potential. Man, I hate picking up the slack of people who refuse to put back into the system they are abusing..Damn, God help us if Obama gets into the White House...:slice:
This is the most sense this thread has made.
Min wage does two things really well, it induces unemployment and it raises the cost the doing business.
That last one has quite a few dimensions to it, since we ditched the "gold standard" in 1933 the value of the dollar has been subject to health of our economy, the dollar is currently worth .004 USD. That should tell you something.
We export less, we end up with less people doing more work for less because business owners have to economize in order to break even and turn a profit.
Also in systems without min wage more people are employed longer and have higher earning potentials because they start earlier and get more expirence.
As a result of that the cost of doing business is reduced, more supply can be made more quickly, and the cost of living goes down.
Socialist systems don't work. Period.
i worked hard all the way through High school manual back breaking labor, I decided i didnt wanna do that forever, so i joined the military served 6 years and got out, now ive got a high school diploma and thats it, besides all the military schools ive had(which mean didly in the civilian world) but anyways I dont do bad for having an office job, but even im thinkin about pickin up a weekend job just for extra cash flow, I got lucky and landed a good job, but you can make good money doin other stuff like manual labor, I used to bitch and moan all the time, until payday came and it was like holy ****, the oil field is always looking for a good hand :thumb: and im not into the whole lets invest now crap and just stay home until i retire, I spend my money and have a blast doing it, lets say youre 50 401k looks good you got some investments goin good just bought some stock, you and the wifey go see a movie on friday night, on the drive home youre talking to her about how good things are gonna be, "just think hon, in a few years we're gonna be living it up" she replies " I know i cant BOOM!!!!! drunk driver crosses the centerline youre both killed on impact.........at least your kids will get to spend your hard earned money right.
SC...that is undoubtedly one of the funniest things you have said. EVER. No offense Ricky, but that was HILARIOUS.
Yup. Ricky, you gotta get away man. No hard feelings towards your mom. She's awesome in the sack and provides for a man well--no wonder why you still live there.
I really can't say much--I was in college until I was 24 years old and was lucky enough to have parents to pay for my college edumakasion. I also had all of my bills paid by them--except for gas. And even at that, my mom always would slide me a couple $100s every now and then. But I still had to work part time to pay for all of my social events. Since I was 13 years old, I started and ran a thriving lawn mowing, landcaping, and irrigation business. I am not a genius business owner by any means, but I was doing well as an 18 year old high school kid who had 3 trucks, 12 employees, 68 residentials/14 commercials, and year-roud contracts with 12 of the 14 commericals. If it wasn't for my need for a truck when I turned 16, I might be a car guy. I used my truck for what one was designed for--working. By doing this, I earned good income and saved a bunch--with good advice for the parentals. Regretfully, I ended up selling the business once I got my scholarship to play soccer at MSU. I retained about 12 residential customers I had from Day 1 so I had something to fall back on if I ever needed to. And after I gradumatated for college, I gave up on it for good to persue what I went to college for. But I think the best part of all of it was for me to get out of the house--and it would have been hella tough for me to do so if the parents weren't paying for my stuff. We all have hard times Ricky--it just how you decide to deal with them. As a 21 year old girl like yourself, you need to move out and get a place on your own. It will teach you a bunch of things--including responsibility for taking care of yourself. and it was also be a good place for you to bring a chick home--IF that ever happens.
Well said man. I believe every word you just said, but when it comes down to it, the only thing we have any chance in Hell of controlling is who WE elect to represent us. Even though every candidate does not have EVERY quality we like, we have to settle and pick one that we like the most. From there, the only thing we can do is pray that there are enough people that believe in the same things we do sp that they may be elected into office.
And just bitching about a problem doesn't get you anywhere. The only thing that is guaranteed in life is death and taxes.
Buy and read The Art of Influence by Chris Widener. Now that you are close to be a graduate you will start having to educate yourself.
Reading can get you further than any University in the country, and its a whole lot cheaper.
reading and influencial people will also inspire you to thrive for larger goals.i grew up very poor and had no choice but too go out at 13 also and get too work.i used to pay attention alot and listen and obsorb all advice given out by my peers.when i saw other people with the things i wanted i strived harder and worked more to get those things and better.i never hung out with people my age because i wanted to learn and i had to grow up[and wether you believe it or not older people know what theyre talking about.so pay attention!].Then came a family,if that doesnt make you want too work harder and provide better for youre children than what you had, than i dont know what will.youre gona be alright ,you already have alot of good advice right here in this thread, and with the people you hang out with from this thread will be able too give out plenty of good advice. In conclusion ,get the hell out of sears as soon as you can can and pursue something you want too cause youre wasting time, and that time is valuable when youre working for raises ,and life is passing your ass bye,b4 you know it youre 40 and still getting minimum wage at sears, if you dont set some goals.good luck.
im just at the end of my damn rope. just about 2 years ago i just started to get rid off my debt and wouldnt you know it, somthing happens that just puts me right back in it:mad: i work my ass off everyday, make probably about 40K a year, live in a 685$ a month apartment, 430$ truck payment, 138$ insurance, $100 cell phone, outrageous electricity bill, gas,...dont get me started on gas, 175$ loan payment, 80$ new couch payment, groceries and a few other things, and im afraid that with the way things are going, im either gonna have to get rid of the apartment, or get rid of my truck....and im so close to paying it off.
Bottom line is- no matter how hard i work, its never hard enough. if the economy isnt in a depression, then i sure am.
i just dont know what to do any more, ...and on top of that, i just got layed off due to ''lack of work'' or some other B.S. reason.
Just buy a camper cover and live in your truck. Who needs an apartment lol
If you don't have transportation, good luck finding a job. Most places don't like to hire people without dependable transportation. Shake it off and get out there and find another job. You may have to work two mediocre jobs to get you by for now but keep the resumes flying through the mail and online and one day you'll find another decent paying job. Don't be afraid to apply for jobs you're not qualified for, sometimes employers like ambitious people that are willing to learn new things. All it takes is for one person to say "yes" and you're back where you were, maybe higher up the food chain.
thanks guys, your helpful words and advice are greatly appreciated.:)
I hope things get better for you bro. I was in a ugly situation a few years ago. My wife and I were living in this small town and we were barely making ends meet. We ate Ramen noodles everynight because that's all we could afford. With both of us working low paying jobs, we made just enough to be broke. We couldn't afford to commute to the bigger cities because we couldn't afford the gas, and we only had one car. We lived in a old store with no kitchen, no bathroom, and holes in the roof and floor. For a while we were trapped. Then one day we decided to try truck driving. We ended up sleeping in our Ford truck overnight until we both passed the CDL tests. Things just got better from there. Maybe you should look into truck driving, it saved us. We made 25K the first year(a piece), then 33k the second, and before we quit(pregnancy), we were on track to earn 60K each.
Glad to see you and your family are doing better. Just got hired on today at Sears again. The first month i will get paid $8.00 an hr then I will move onto $6.00 an hr plus commission. Its better then nothing, and all i could find at the moment.
the sad thing is..i do have my class a cdl, but i cant complain cause i know that a lot of other people have it way worse than me...take your story for example. i am glad to see things are going your way and you guys are doing well. its just a matter of chipping away at somethin till you get what you want.
This is just the result of a recession. Its not official because the definition of a recession is a downward trend for two or more quarters, which hasn't happened quite yet iirc.
When the economy goes into recession employment goes down, but so does the cost of living because with more people out of work less people are willing to pay for a product at a higher price. Thus the cost deflates. The price deflates and people buy more, the company makes more, the company profits and can support more workers.
Its kind of a little trick the free market uses to regenerate. The idiots like Oboma who claim they can keeps us from going into a recession through taxation and distributions (stimulus packages), and bailing out the banks and other pet industries, is inducing stagflation. Which is where both unemployment goes up and inflation (i.e. the cost of living) go up.
In effect it STALLS the business cycle, its like interrupting the heartbeat of our economy.
What the economy needs is to be left alone for a few years, with small tax cuts and a reduction in distributions (socialist systems)
When less work is demanded the standards for which employers choose their workers by is much higher, its all a matter of supply and demand.
