So going with the MTI Stealth cam would give a smoother idle due to the higher LSA.....correct?
Do i just need to install new springs, retianers and locks for the new cam, if i keep the stock rockers do i need new pushrods?

yes
Well i got a new cam for my Silverado today, is similair to a stock LS6 cam, but with more dur@.050
Specs are
.550/.550 218/218 on a 117 LSA. Im gonna get some 918 springs, and a tune along with the LT's and ORY and a Volant CAI and the truck should make real close to the same power numbers as the onin the first post here.
Look forward to trying something like this or a heads and and cam swap on my LQ4.
where are you in san antonio i would love to see your truck because if you can FEEL the differance then i would do it in a week but if its not that noticable then i dont see y to do it get back with me on this thanks Jon
I believe the truck ran a 13.6 with no converter and 3.23 gears (yuck!), since there, he's installed a 3000yank we had here and 4.10's. I'm sure it's easily in the 12's by now. I haven't spoken with the customer since the stall and gears.
As soon as I do, I'll post up.
later,
allen
the truck this post was based upon ran a 13.6 damn thats pretty good considering...and in the 12s now damn im pumped
yeah that was how i took it! 13.6 isnt that bad! at all really. thats w/o a some kind of rear end and a good set of tires correct? i mean a cam and a few small mods is really just scratching the surface
That's correct, no posi, stall, tires.
This was a decent sized cam, so, it really brought the power band up. This requires a converter and gears.
So, 13.6 is really good, it only shows how slow it took off the line, the mph was good though, indicating HP is strong.
A Z06 cam w/ some roller tip rockers will net about the power w/ not as much cost. Just a thought, not trying to be a jerk.
Do you have any dyno charts of an identical truck to back that up? I'm very interested in this.
I'll be proving/disproving your comment shortly, I have a 5.3L here that is going on the dyno someday and we'll be testing several cam grinds, I'll include the z06 cam in this group.
If there are any other cam grinds you guys would like to see and we can obtain them, we'll try them out.
thanks,
allen
Ill be waiting for this Allen. Help me allot with cam selection.
im going to be installing my reground LS6 cam, its .550/.550 218/218 on a 117 LSA, Im hoping it will run fine with the stock programming.
I would be interested in seeing what you can do along the lines of a towing package on a 5.3. basically increasing low end tq up to about 3,000rpm.
I have a wait for me tune, Gibson shorties,LT1 fans and 3.73s pulling a 5600lb camper.
I keep kicking myself for not getting lts instead of the gibsons as I think that would help me most. I get 11mpg towing and it does a lot better towing since i put the gears in, but it could alwaysbe better. The big thing is I don't want to sacrifice mileage.
What About The 6.0 How Much Power We Talkin About With All The Upgrades?
how about a 5.3L 224/230 .581/.588 112lsa
pace setter Lts and ORY
40 series 3inch single in 2/12 dual out
nelson tuned
sound familar this way i dont have to pay for a dyno hahahah
With the mods in this article when will the truck start to need more fuel? Will it be as simple as new injectors or will it need a new pump as well? Also will it have to be retuned to get more fuel?
So just real quick i know that a live tune will give me more but i have a mail order i just thought this would be good info bought the truck stock 05-5.3l dynoed 259 rwhp new setup in my sig dynoed 341 thats a gain of 82 HPs to the tires with a live tune that 100HPs is lookin pretty good. ill get track times stock it ran 15.6.
On this truck, the stock fuel system was used, no upgrades were added.
Those are good gains Lambo!
Allen,
How did you get that truck to hold the HP all the way up to 6500? I put down almost the same peak HP with 30 extra tourque but it drops major after 5800.. any ideas?
Comp Doubles with titanium retainers.
here is my run it sounds good all the way to 6400 but the graph just drops around 5800.. You probably know me better By Bryan since you have done so many retunes for me (Thanks)

Cheap HP
That is awesome!
I want to put some long tube headers on my 4.8L but donno if I need tuning with it, or what? Im bout to order them also if yall could help me. I also will prob need a high flow cat b/c i dont wanna lose too much backpressure right? Its a stock 4.8L with K&N intake, hypertech programmer, a no muffler. Its got stock cats and res on it.
Once again, losing backpressure is always good. If you wanna know if LT's and an ORY will kill torque, no. As long as you don't put 2" primary tube, 3" collector headers and a true dual 4" system, you'll be golden. You'll want the tune from NP for more than one reason. You'll want the rear O2's tuned out with the ORY to keep the SES light off but more importantly, you'll want the extra performance.
thanks man! i appreciate the info!! yea i posted on a couple of spots cause i didnt know where to post to get feedback.
im gussing this will work on the 6.0 as well will i see mor of a gain then the 5.3
think there some pacesetter in tha for sale section??
I will like to know how much torque was gained with this setup.
