I had one of the 95 xcab turbo d's. It was a dog. They called it a 3/4 ton with 6 bolt axles, more or less a 5/8 ton. That POS broke down all the time.

IT HAS NEVER GIVEN ME ANY TROUBLE EXCEPT THE INJECTORS. THEY HAD A RECALL SO I GOT NEW REPLACEMENT AFTERMARKET ONES, OTHER THAN THE FACTORY ONES. IT STILL RUNS GREAT.Quote:

What do you guys think?
How about a new duramax with an 80e? I'm sure the 80E is possible with the right converter and flywheel, and I know it will hold.
I think there was an article a while back where a company did this. It was in a regcab truck 1/2 ton.
This think would be crazy!

DO YOU WANT ME TO HAVE THE WIFEY BRING DOWN THE TURBO DIESEL SO YOU CAN LOOK AT THE CROSS MEMBER, WHEN I DROP OFF MY TRUCK?

Mine was 4x4 and every piece of the drivetrain was worn out. Never buy a truck in the rain. I didn't hear the transfer case or front diff about to fall out of the truck. Damn AutoNation wouldn't stand behind it either. They lost me as a customer for life, them and any dealership that would have them as a partner on their lots.
Do it allen! Why not include the Allison? Its a bad ass tranny!! There are crew cabs like mine with exhaust , intake, and tuning running mid 13's. Then build the tranny and more proramming / fuel pumps say hello to 11's !! Thats INSANE from a 7000 lb truck.
i was wondering when somebody would do this.... just make sure it's the LBZ duramax('06 1/2). it's a lot beefier.
Guys are taking the Duramax engines and building rail dragsters with them! It's wild watching one roll down the track belching a trail of black smoke.
go for it dude!! that would be cool to see.
That's funny! I was just talking to a couple of guys I work with on the same thing. They have Duramax's and we thought about pulling my LS1 out and swapping it. They run Edge programmers with the touch screens and they run low 12's in the 1/4. They said it would look pretty cool in my lowered truck and the pipes coming out the bed. I said we'll have to wait and see what happens after Christmas. Looks like a pretty hefty bonus if we keep our safety record straight. 12 to 14 % of our yearly salary would be pretty nice!! You go ahead Allen, work the bugs out and let us know what to look out for. LOL
