I brew my own beer, that's one of the things I've done so far the week. I have a couple more batches to do before long. My other half is being sensible and now wants to stay home and save money. Gotta love her. She knows I need more parts and that's one way for me to afford to buy them. :thumb:

Go west of Kerrville in the hillcountry and go to a bed and breakfast. Nice ride, they cook breakfast and then you can enjoy the history of the area without the "hotel" feel.....

My stockpile is depleted right now but once this batch is done maybe I'll bring some with me next time we get together. I don't drink it much any more but it's still fun to make a batch now and again. My fave is a newcastle nut brown style beer. I'll make a batch of stout similar to Guiness once a year, my fiance' won't drink it hardly at all, says it tastes like black licorice. My biggest problem is getting pop-top bottles. I only buy store beer with pop tops like Heinekin or Grolsch so that I have the bottles for later.

my days of drinking cheap beer are over. I drank my share of bud, coors, brown derby, black label, hamms, lite and all the other mass produced cheap beers when I was younger. Now that I can sit back and enjoy a beer instead of trying to drink the bottling company dry, I buy a bolder flavor beer and even enjoy my Guiness at room temp. I spent two weeks in England and drank a lot of ales while I was there. I haven't been the same since. :laugh:

hey red do you use any kind of cider when you brew yours? my buddy used cider. i dont really know exactly how or what he did when he brewed it, all i know is it tasted like cider, but it was beer.
If it tastes like cider something is wrong. Cider taste most commonly happens when you use beet sugar or corn sugar in excessive amounts trying to raise the alcohol level. If you use spraymalt, powdered malt, you will not get the cider-like flavor. I have only made two batches using pure corn sugar as food for the yeast. The yeast consume the malts and sugars to form the alcohol. Malt is more expensive but it enhances the flavor of the beers/ales making them taste much better and provide a better body to the beer.
