Today I did some cleaning of the engine bay, 409 on the painted parts and Purple power and a scrub brush on the frame and suspension. I'm gonna repaint the whole engine bay the color of the truck, and clearcoat it a few times to really get it to pop.

This is gonna be sweeeeet!!!
Awesome job so far !!! I've been wanting to do a similar build myself
I'm curious, why not just use a 5.3 Colorado harness and PCM?
Nice
The 09-up Colorado uses an E67 ECU to run the V8's, and is mostly dependent on the CAN system for communications. It is also meant for a 58x engine, and won't run the 24x LS1.
The problem you run in to with running the LS1 style computer on a Colorado is that the cluster will do some silly things, like add on extra mileage to the odometer randomly. They are kinda finicky.
x2 what cpwire said lol!! I didn't know that actually, but mainly I know I can make it work with the 2000 harness. Basically from what I have seen a lot of people are just feeling there way around, and I trust myself more than what someone would say on a forum UNLESS they have actual proof it worked. I have to be honest though I was kind of mad that my boyfriend bought the ls1, because I had bought a complete LT4 matching numbers powertrain for this truck. I know people hate the LT motors, but they sound sweet and I have had good luck with my other engine swap I did with one. I was hoping to do another obd1-obd2 cross, BUT he wanted that LS1 so I guess you could say I am a true OBD2 virgin lol!!
CPWIRE- I just ordered your ls1 swap mounts today actually lol.
