I'd go with manifolds. The shorty headers dissipate heat and when boosting heat is a good thing on the hot side.
Well if I used the shorties I wud cerama coat em or at very least wrap the crap outta them.
And correcting myself from earlier they were turbonetics, not garrets, $212, summit racing....
Two turbos, intercooler, oil pump, couple other parts, 62# injectors, walbro 255....came out to $2200. Much cheaper than most single turbo kits that seem to avg around $5300
You're leaving out all the cold side, the rest of the hot side, all the couplers, all of the ceramic coating you're talking about doing...which ain't cheap. Now don't forget that when you plan for a project make sure to plan for 75% more than you think because no matter what, you're leaving something out somewhere.
If ur gonna go mid mount and use pace headers just use the stock manifolds instead. At the power level ur wanting there will be no power advantage with the shorties. the manifolds will hold up longer and not crack.
Orginally wasnt gonna go FI, but after seeing how much power these motors make boosted i've changed my build direction. Ideally wud like to hit mid 600s hp, this will still be my DD for many years (hopefully lol). Just want it to be a street terror, run on 93, n eat fords n crap dodges, and occsssionaly make vette owners go "what the.....!"
Just want to be a lil different than the next guy, ya know?
Appreciate all the advice guys!
It will be very difficult to DD 600 HP truck for very long if you are looking to keep a cheap budget.
Good luck man, hope you pull it together, we definitely need more 600, 800 and 1000+ hp daily driven street trucks raping the roads! :beer2:
If you can believe them (and from the article, I'm leaning that way). The thing about this engine was power really didn't come in until around 4500 rpm and then dropped around 6500 (that was their self imposed redline). Drop you a 5500 stall behind it. ~1000 rwhp. You could be very fast and very consistent with something like this. They did 60 dyno runs with the engine trying to break it. Never did ... guess they will have to try harder next time.
