I wonder what's gonna replace Pontiac at the Pontiac Buick GMC dealers. Can't wait to have a lot full of grey trucks and silver Allures, it'll make work so exciting. :ugh2:

Pontiac is not all the way dead yet.
Ah you know something I don't apparently
I just know the media ran away with the story but GM's stance is that they are unsure if it will last and HAVE to keep making them for a while. What they decide then will be the biggie. It very well could be dead.
well other than the G8, pontiac's lineup sure isnt top of the ladder. They need a change fast.
And the G8's suck. Fun for a day but the novelty wears off. Fast. The Solstice GXP is the only thing they have going for them in the way of fun cars. And the Grand Prix GXP is a bit of a sleeper so I like it.
Th G6 is a hot seller though...probably outsells all other Pontiacs combined. The Solstice is fun but it useless. The G8 is a nice car but sells as slow as its 2-door older brother GTO.
This is is pretty on topic too as Saturn has all the same problems only worse, they have no identity.
It doesn't matter if they cut their inventory in half or not. If it's an unprofitable company it's a liability and a toxic asset
The problem is that foreign companies can build a comparable car for cheaper. We of course have labor laws and it costs GM more money to build the same car(yes even if they are assembled in the U.S.) as Toyota or other similar brand.
So the only way to compete is to make prices comparable until they no longer can make money.
I would like to see GM start marketing to a higher tax bracket. As you notice, Hyundai seems to be trying to do that with the Genesis and their whole product line in general.
I just don't see offering 10 different economy cars and barely turning a profit to be a wise business decision. If they could condense their fleet then that might see better results, but no one really knows the answer obviously or they wouldn't have filed for chapter 11.
