If you buy a 6.0 with transmission, it can be any year since they'll be matched up. The 2002 and newer engine will mate up to the 5.3L transmission without issue.

ok...cool..but say i sale my truck with the motor in it, will the 6.0 still fit where the 4.8 was and can i use the 4.8 wiring? sorry for asking so many questions i just wanna prepare myself before i jump into this with no knowledge
I think the mounts and the accessories might be different but im not too sure
you swap the 4.8 accessories to the 6.0 engine, its dimensionally the same. You need the 6.0 injectors and to have the tune updated for the 6.0. Transfer all the sensors, wiring and accessories from the 4.8. You only use the 6.0 long block and injectors.
If you do the 4.8L 5-speed truck, just buy a '02 and newer 6.0L. Listen to Red on this---its almost all the same, except for a few small things. The NV3500 can be easily converted to a T-56. That would be one helluva bad as truck. DOOOOOOO IIIIT!
i am gonna do it...i just gotta find the truck...but i'm gonna use my 5.3 liter first then swap to a 6.0..im gonna go check out a 2000 sierra this weekend...
good luck man im doing a 5.3 t56 swap if i finish b4 you ill let know how it turns out
