I believe if you swap columns there would be no problem. It may be as easy as switching the ignition lock cylinder.

It's kind of the lines I was thinking, might just be easier to have vats tuned out since I have 2 of everything...
Ok 03 3/4 ton lq4 dbw in my 03 that had a 4.3 4l60e how can i make this 4l80e harness work with my 60 tia i did search
VATS will get you no start! The 99 4.8 PCM still thinks it's in the same vehicle but with some random voltage from the key trying to make it pass. Even with relearn a million times over done perfectly, you'll get a start then die result. Simply send pcm out to a tune shop and have VATS REMOVED. It should start right up. Make sure you have a stand alone/custom alarm though.
Reference for me. But helpful for everyone else. Same author, same thread. Different questions.

My silverado had only one fuel line going to motor. I think I might have to find a return line from a v8 setup
If your truck doesn't have a return line, all you need to do is swap your fuel rail setup to a returnless. My motor came with a return style fuel rail, all I had to do was buy some returnless fuel rails off ebay and swap them out. Youll either have 2 hard lines coming from your tank or 3. If you have 2 your truck is returnless (feed, EVAP) and you need a returnless fuel rail from a v8 truck, or youll have 3 lines coming from the tank which means you have a return style. (feed, return, Evap)
If your truck has a return setup and the motor is returnless you can also run a filter/regulator from the C5 corvettes. I used a WIX 33737 it's $40 from Summit and has an internal regulator thats set at 58#.
I just completed the swap in my 2002 swb GMC Sierra, 4.3 to 5.3, started first try after priming with no plug wires on, runs smoothly, no codes, cruise works, only problem is the torque converter isn't locking up, no overdrive... Did I miss something? I've read every post...
Hey I have some questions I'm in the middle of a swap I got my 4.3 out an the 5.3 getting a few touch ups my truck is a 2001 Silverado 4.3 I'm going to 06 5.3 an I have the harness an throttle peddle for the 06, I have ordered all the fittings for the fuel lines in there any thing electrical I need to swap in the fuse box an, do I need to swap any thing for my cruise control ? Thanks for the input
My advice would be to get a v8 harness for your 01 and keep the drive by cable peddle. It's more trouble than it's worth to switch to DBW. If you get a 99-02 harness and throttle body, everything will plug in and run fine without making any changes to the fuse box or BCM. If you do decide to run the older harness you will need a new oil pressure sending unit. Part number ACDELCO d1818a. 50 dollars on amazon.
I have my swap all done except I'm getting the start and immediate die. I've read threw the whole thread and it seems I need to do pcm flash to eliminate VATS. Is this correct? I've tried key on for 10 minutes then off and so on with no luck.
Has anyone used, or can confirm that these fittings will work for the fuel. I don't want to cut off my fuel lines.

I have been researching swapping my 2007 classic 4.3 out for a 5.3. It is currently a DBC system. I haven't found clear answers for the correct engine and wiring harness. What is the correct year engine and wiring harness I should buy?
I'm a little confused on the mounts.
I pulled a 5.3 and grabbed both the engine mounts and frame mounts from the donor.
The passenger side looks like it will fit fine, but the driver's side isn't even close. Is it possible that the 4x4 frame mount is different on the driver's side of the 5.3 donor? I grabbed another mount from a 4x4 Yukon for the driver's side but it looks almost exactly the same.
Does the driver's side frame mount need to be from a 2 wheel drive truck? I'm doing the 4.3 to 5.3 swap into a 99 or 2000 RCSB 2wd Sierra (can't remember the year right off hand) that has rack and pinion steering.
I did a v6 to 5.3 swap with my stock 5 speed trans.
Anyone done the same?
i have a 2004 siverado extended cab short bed with a v6 and a 2006 silverado single cab log bed with a v8. im wanting to swap the v6 for the v8, tranny also. my questions are will the motor mounts and drive shaft fit or will mods need to be made. thanks
see the signature above your post. plenty of guys have ;)
mounts depend on how each truck's configured. this thread talks about which trucks need which ones.
can't you just crawl under each truck & measure the driveshafts to see if they're the same lengths? i don't get why you would need/want to swap them (or the trans for that matter) unless they're not both 4L60s.
Im currently working on swap. 2000 4.3 5 speed swap to 2000 5.3
the harness I got was hacked up, so I had to rework it a bit. Im stuck with c2 F11 on the fuse block. its a purple/white wire for starter relay, but unsure where to tie into.
Any help is appreciated
I just purchased an 04 silverado 2wd rcsb with a 4.3 have an 04 6.0. Been searching but unable to find the part numbers for the exact 1500 mounts I need. I appreciate an help.
I’m just about to start this swap in my 2001 2wd gmc rcsb. But I’m having trouble sorting thru the information on mating the transmission to the new 5.3. What did you have to change to mate them? Do I need a 4.8 wheel? Do I need new hardware? Do I need a new throw out? It’s a shame if I gotta change a bunch of stuff cause I just installed a new clutch kit. It’s got like 1000 klms on it. But the engine is toast.
Thanks for any input!
