Parting out the Beatertruck?
-
Well, I am getting a truck thats in alot better shape; a 1985 1/2 ton Sierra step side. Alot of whats on the old truck is going on the new one, but I am selling the long block to pay for a few other things. I will post some pics in a few days. This truck has all new front suspension with urathane bushings and drives much better.
Once I get a few things changed, I will try and get a 6.0 core to start to build for it.
The body of the old "beatertruck" will be for sale soon for $600.00.

good deal on that engine! Looking foward to beater truck #2!!!
-
Curious, what is that on the crank snout?
-
When we build a motor, we use some speciality tools to ensure proper assembly.
The tool on the end is a front cover alignment tool. The front cover will "float" some. That tool aligns it.
-
Yep, that's a genuine GM precision alignment tool for the proper installation of the front cover. There's one for the rear cover and oil pan, also. I use the poorboy method, put the cover on loose, draw the crank pulley on, install the oil pan without the gasket and snug it down, loosen the cover bolts, tighten the bottom bolts through the pan into the front cover and then tighten the cover bolts to specs. I know it's not the recommended way to do it but I've never had a leak anywhere but a valve cover gasket that fell out of the groove during installation.

what times have you run with this engine in the 1/4?
-
and how much hP and torque does it put out?
-
I think this is the engine that is going into Alton's 93 chevy SWB truck.(bud8fan)
