So were all familiar with case grounded and isolated ground O2 sensors on the Gen3 stuff. It seems that any LS1B PCM will work with either style, provided that the O2s are wired correctly for the type of sensor being used???
Also, some are male connectors and some are female (upstream). What is the best way to determine which O2 sensors to use?
Also, I've noticed that earlier alternators use a flat 4 cavity connector with a brown, brown/ grey, or brown/ grey/ blue. Is there a universal wiring configuration that works on all gen 3? How about the late alternator with a two wire connector that comes on the GBCM equipped trucks? Can you just change the connector to the flat 4 pin and use only the brown wire?

Pin B on the 2pin alternator connector, x2, pin 61 on the ecm, I believe.
Pin B on the 2pin alternator connector, R15/ G15 on the 411 pcm.

So if I follow, there are case grounded cals (or OS?) and there are isolated ground cals (or OS)? Is there a database somewhere that lists which PCMs / cals are comparable with each type O2? If so, is it public or proprietary?
Say, you're building a 99-02 or 03-07 harness and don't know which PCM or O2s the end user has, what do you do about O2 wiring? Male or female harness connector? Case or isolated?
On the 4 pin alternators, is the pin B brown Gen F circuit all that is required? Can you do away with the grey and blue wires every time and just run the Gen F circuit?
This is all Gen 3 stuff I'm referring to.

Or, is there no one size fits all answer? I know it's easier to rework a harness if it came as a package with engine and PCM so it's already matched up to start with but I'm wondering if it's possible to say 99-02 gets wired for case grounded O2s with male harness connectors and 03-07 gets wired for isolated ground O2s with female harness connectors and both get one wire wire to alternator (brown pin B Gen F)? Not that simple?

If I were collecting parts to build what you're asking I would use all the parts that are compatible. If that means scrapping a pcm or set of 02's in favor of keeping the more expensive items...

Other wires are usually gauge. Some sort of detection. Something like that I forget. But B will charge the battery.
Ok cool, I think I follow. All alternators can run on pin B so you can eliminate the grey wire.
As far as O2s go, wire case for 99-02 and isolated for 03-07 and make the end user source a compatible PCM and O2s if their current ones aren't compatible.
