I just talked with a tranny guy about installing my HD2 for me. He said with the milage on my truck he wouldn't recomend it. I told him I wanted a little firmer shifts, and to beef it up for the stall soon to go in. He recomended letting him swap the accumulators and springs and turn up something to up the pressure for the firmer shifts, then when and if the tranny goes to build a beefed up tranny and save the shift kit for that one. Im confused. I thought the shift kit would keep the tranny alive longer I need some help bad now. :duh:

How many miles does your trans have on it now?

106k, but it seems to be fine right now. It doesnt slip , and shifts fine. I would like to keep it together a s long as possible, and firm up the shifts a little. I don't want anything harsh just firm. :jump:

You can probably get away w/ a TG kit, but be very conservative. There are definately some other valve body parts which should be swapped for new ones or upgraded. If done right, a TG kit plus those other items will make your trans shift better and last longer. Also good things to have are a "real" trans cooler, remote filter and bigger pan.
If you feel confident enough to do it yourself, there are alot of good posts of parts lists and advice/tips on this forum and others.
I say do it, but do it yourself. That way you know it's done exactly how you want it. And you'll learn a bunch.
