so this is a while out, but here's what i'm thinking & trying to plan for. any help/input/suggestions are welcomed ;)
i've currently got a 2000 FRC Corvette with a stock LS1 (53kmi) with only headers and a hot air intake (ie: TVS2300). 11psi just ain't as fun as it used to be, so i'm trying to save for a forged 416LS3 to swap my long block out for. that leaves me with an LS1 sitting there begging to be used. http://www.performancetrucks.net/for...h/gr_devil.gif
then there's my trusty Penny - the 99 Sierra i did a 4.3 -> 5.3 swap in 3 years ago. i was originally planning a 212/218 cam & headers when i was putting the engine in, but taking 5 months to get the swap done just left me with a bone-stock engine til a couple years ago when i slapped on some headers. that's been fun & all, but it's time for a little more grunt behind the old girl. she managed 275hp/300tq a couple summers ago & i'm looking to up that a bit - especially now that i just went from 265 4-ply tires to 285 8-plies... just feels sluggish (which was to be expected).
what i'm thinking for when i finally can get the engine in the car is to swap the LS1 short block over to the truck with something in the neighborhood of a 220 cam & port my current 5.3 heads. keep the higher compression for quick throttle response (and to make my 93 octane tune more worth it), and a bit of a cam to make better use of an engine swap. i obviously can't go too ridiculous on the cam due to the clutch & 4x4-ness with bigger tires. that's why i picked the 220 neighborhood - pretty mild for a 5.7
how's this sound to y'all who have a bit more experience than i do?
