Spambots countermeasure suggestion

Have you tried Q&A CAPTCHA in phpBB to eliminate the spambots?

Yup the spam is getting pretty dam ridiculous!

Yea we need to figure sumthin out.

The last week has gotten out of hand. By far the worst it has ever been.

Captcha is typically so difficult i can't make out what the letters or numbers are, yet a spam bot knows it too easy. I have added a question to the registration form which hopefully will keep them at bay.

That question might even weed out some annoying newbs lol

we don't use phbb, but we're looking at something else that will help out.
it's a double sided sword, deal with a few bots or lots of new members complaining they can't post due to the restrictive registration process.
