Guys, I currently have 4.10's in my truck now, tryin to get the truck to a 7.1x, went 7.40@90 this past weekend in the heat, so what gear do you guys think will work the best? 4.30's or 4.56's? I know that the 4.30's wont be much difference but it I think it'd be a better street gear
Well, it all depends on what RPM you're crossing the line at. You want it to be pretty much wound out as you're going accross the traps, bt then you wouldn't be able to make 1/4 passes and driving on the street would be a pain. So you just have to find a nice happy medium. Obviously the 4.30s would help some and the 4.56s would be even better, but since it is still street driven it's all a compromise...

knowing your powerband would help in deciding what gears you need ;) youre not gonna drop .3 by just a gear swap, you'll mph more and just maybe drop a tenth. think about working on the suspension, you'll see more gains..Quote:

Totally didn't see that, so sorry. Yes, knowing your power band is key. If you're doing 1/8th mile a tall gear is nice, but you gotta know your power band. If it's way high, get a high stall converter and a tall gear.
