Hi guys,
I have a 91 C1500 that im swapping to an ls1 next week. I think for the most part I have everything figured out except the oil pressure gauge. Do I need to run the ls1 oil perssure sensor that goes to the ecm or can i just run my old one off the tbi motor that goes to that gauge? I guess my question is does the ecm need and oil pressure signal?

on my 82 c10 5.3L swap i used the 82 oil pressure sender, i just had to drill and tap the plug that goes above the oil filter. it bolts to the side of the oil pan right above the oil filter, hope this helps.
The ecm does not require an oil pressure signal to run. However, it is recommended to do like (i think) lechez71 was saying and drill n tap the oil cooler block off plate for your tbi sensor. Thats what I did and it works perfect.
keep your water temp wiring, sensor an put it behind the tensioner on the water pump, use a 9/16 drill bit, a 3/8" NPT. keep the AC wiring if your going with AC. keep your ALT wire. thats it.
your new harness should run everything else including the fuel pump
you can keep the Gen3 oil pressure gage plus put the old factory one in the cover on the oil pan rail just above the oil filter. If you ever get one of those wonder gages that reads all the engine parameters via the OBDII port, you can monitor your oil pressure using it or a software like HPTuners.
I used the gen 3 sensor and it feeds the ecm and the gauges in my truck...why run two sensors?
EDIT: I did swap to 95+dash and gauges as well..

Just to clarify: The gen 3 oil pressure sensor will give the correct signal for the OBS gauge? And did you splice the OBS gauge wire inline with the gen 3 wire to the ecm?Quote:
