I want to know the same thing. I plan to put a 2-4 on my extended cab pretty soon.
You may want to try 4 wheel drive parts. They have done work for me and have done a good job. They only screwed up one thing (put the wrong headers on) and they repaired everything at no cost to me. :twocents:
Do it yourself ?
Not to hard if you havent done one before
or have a buddy help you.
You can drop one in 5-6 hours
The have it aligned
WELL ILL BE MORE HTTHN GLD TO LET U HELP........SORRY MY KEY BORD IS MESSED UP
If you are close

Your buying frosty beverages... :thumb:
What tools are needed to install a 2/4 drop on a truck? My drop kit consists of spindles, hangers and shackles. :help:
These items/tools will help a lot...
-Codder pins (to replace the stock ones you'll remove during spindle change)
-Spring compressor (keep tension on front springs while you change spindle)
-Grease and or bearing packer to regrease all wheel bearings
-Good variety of wrenches and sockets...torque wrench is nice
-Big friggin hammer...pickle fork is cool too but be careful w/ the ball joint boots
-Floor jack and jack stands.
-Probably forgot something but that's all I got now...lol
The hardest part will be the hanger swap....not fun since you'll have to remove all the stock rivets to bolt in the new hangers. A grinder will work, drill, or air tools...specifically air chisel.
Did you get McGaughy's spindles or BellTech?
Cameron
Shackles are the easy one
Floor jack and hand wrenches
The hangers are PIA
Grinder for the rivets or plamsa or torch - drilling them out takes weeks (j/k)
Grind the head off and take a punch and punch the body of the rivet thru
make sure you have the truck and the rear end supported.
The tank will have to be lowered and moved inward.
Once you get the rivets out - they are easy
Spindles
Hand tools.
Floor jack - 3 ton
I use a ball joint tool and a tie rod tool
breaks them free vs a pickle fork or banging on them
Check www.goodtool-online.com
Spindles take about 45 min to 1 hour per side
Shackles 30 to 45 mins
Hangers - depends on what you plan to remove the rivets with.
Thanks for the list and time estimates guys! :hshake:
Physh1, i bought the McGaughy's because I heard that the Belltech spindles reduce the turning radius.
