Exhaust sound help
I have LT's no cats with the pipes stopping at the factory flanges under the passenger seat. I've been running it open headers for over a year now and finally got stopped by a cop for noise pollution. now i have to put an exhaust on my truck and i want to have the same sound or similar sound to a gto with a slp loudmouth exhaust. I put on a set of gutted glass packs that i had lying around from my high school days just to get by. Needless to say it sounds like crap i didnt even put tips on it( most of the popping sound) and made it exit on the passenger side before the tire. I had to get something on it to show the judge that i got an exhaust or else i would be paying yet another fine on top of the one i just paid last week for speeding. I already caught hell from some friends that heard my exhaust! It sounds horrible! haha it pops at almost all throttle positions up to WOT! those of u who have heard an old 7.3 non turbo diesel with 2" duals should know what im talking about. I did get some props from some backwoods rednecks in a stuffed in beater ford with an a-frame winch welded to the bed to make a tow truck! I dont know whats worse my exhaust or their dental hygene.
Needless to say I have to build a serious exhaust for it now and I was wondering if anyone on here has duplicated the slp loudmouth sound on their truck and how they did it. I really dont want to spend 154 on a set of resonators that will make my truck sound like billy bo bobs 4 wheel drive doing a single wheel burnout in the walmart parking lot. Eventhough beer bottles and beer cans can usually be found rattling around in the bed of my truck just like billy bobs, that doesnt mean i want my exhaust to sound like billy bobs. I have a two post lift, mig and exhaust bender ready to build whatever i want but i dont know how to get the sound i want. I have made several exhaust systems thats sound great but i have never tasked myself with the sound that a loudmouth exhaust does. Im assuming a set of shotgun resonators and some 4" dual wall tips will get simialr results.
Any help would be appreciated.

Mine sounds pretty similar to the SLP Loudmouth, even a lot of people said it sounds like an LS1 Car, Mustang, or right inbetween. But I also have the 4.8 :(
I have Just stock Manifolds, no cats, Flowmaster Super 40 dualed out but with no echo tips (Kinda like dual split rear turn downs, old school muscle car style) , I took them off because it made it a bit more "poppy" and truck like.
Ive heard cowl327s truck in person on here, I dont know if hes modified it since, but it sounded like a camaro or a vette.

I have true duals with an h pipe and super 44s 3inch in and out and LTs

Yeah man--COWL327's truck sounds badass! And H-pipe will make the difference with how your exhaust sounds. WTF??? Glass packs dumped at the right rear tire? You kidding? Of course it sounds like that...I hope you weren't expecting anything better???? I would run a Magnaflow 2.5" dual in/dual out muffler with the built-in h-pipe. Then route it out the back how you want it...

^^^ +1 ^^^ w/ the magnaflow.

Like i said i had to get something on there in a hurry to show the judge proof of an exhaust system. I live in a town of 1600 people and everybody knows my truck and so does the judge. I was given a day to get an exhaust. I did what i had to do. Its actually kind of funny that now that i have an exhaust its more annoying that the open headers i was running to begin with. I knew it would pop but not that bad. this was just a temporary fix untill i decide what to actually spend time with and build. Thats why im inquiring on hear, im not asking how to fix the poping sound by no means. If i wanted to get the popping to go away i would have put resonated tips on it with an h pipe run it out the back and be done. most of the reason it pops is because it has no tips on it and they are very short gutted glasspacks with a short run of pipe.
I want to keep the truck true duals as my truck is a vho and never had a y in it untill after the muffler. Also i love hearing every bit of the cam and dont want to loose any of the sound. I have about made up my mind that im going to get slp shotgun mufflers spend about half a day bending and welding to get what i want. I just wanted to know if anyone had made somewhat of a loudmouth for their truck. Im going to go ahead and spend the extra cash for the slp's and take a shot at it and see what i get.
Where can i hear cowl327's truck at?
