I have a 02 2500 hd w/a 6l truck is 4wd and I do alot of towing from cars to boats and tractors.Has anyone swapped from the clutch fan to electric fans on these trucks.I know the fans will bolt up directly from gm but none of our 07-08 2500,s have the electric fans. Gm doesnt have them on the 2500,s yet.Just curious if towing in 100 degree weather in traffic would be a problem?Any suggestions would welcome.I can buy a complete gm set up for about 450.00
Would work great you'd need the harness and tune to turn them on and off or just order a set of perma cools off summitracing.com

Needs no wiring harness and has 3 wires to hook up. Nothing else to buy.
As long as the truck is moving at least 40-mph the wind rush coming in through the grill is far more than *any* fan can provide, what you are worried about is fan CFM when towing hard at under 35-mph, like when you got your foot in it towing a very heavy trailer up a very steep grade, then fan CFM will be a critical factor. But honestly if you are doing that kind of towing then you should ditch the POS factory radiator for a real 2-row aluminum unit in the first place. I don't know the CFM of the GM silverado efans, but they are rated for towing a 8800-lb trailer on a 1/2-ton EC truck... Our efan kit moves 4200-CFM on high speed and the flex-a-lite 282's are 5500-CFM but dayum loud and pretty large afa efans go. Whichever efans you go with DO IT you would not believe the performance difference and you'll finally have COLD max a/c under 35-mph for once lol. BTW - don't forget you will need to upgrade your alternator to the big-case Delco 244 unit (145-amp) and longer belt, check eBay you can find new pull-offs for about $70-75.
05 & up I think. My 04 didn't have them, had to get them off an 05 for mine.Quote:

But be sure with the larger fans (34") to run a few fuses with them for safety sakes .
