We'll see if it holds.

A few weeks ago the rearend in the Avalanche blew on a launch, I just ordered up a set of harder axles, full rebuild and a 3.73 gear set. The 4.10's were a bit too much, even with the tall tires.

If this doesn't hold, I'm dreading putting in a 3/4 ton rearend, that's more power taken away from the wheels, lol.

I'll post up some results at the track as soon as we're done.

Why do you say the 4.10's were to much? What size tires do you have? What rpm's were you turning?

The 4.10's are too much on my truck because it's turbocharged and the truck runs better when I can string each gear out longer. The 4.10's made each gear rap out to quick.
I know it sounds wrong, but the truck hauled ass with the 3.42's originally, then I made the mistake of adding the 4.10's.
I want to see how the 3.73's work out compared to the 4.10's, should be just right with the tall tires.

This opinion is just on my truck, it may be different on others.

Allen, I think you are right on about using the 3.73 rear axle ratio... Having a strong posi and axles will help, but since you are making a lot of power out of that thing, using a 14 bolt may be the answer to your porblems...

Converting a 14 bolt for the avalanche is a nightmare..

allen ,what axles are you using ?its inevaatable ,so i though id get a set 2.plus ill feel alittle safer.im doing a bunch of changes within the next week and ill have it torn down.and yes i ordered all flt parts.lol. maybe a link if u have 1.thanks.good luck ,i think youlle like the 3.73s.

If that doesnt work get the 14 bolt semi floater with the 9.5" ring gear, its not as heavy as the 3/4 ton 10.5" full floaters but it can stand some serious abuse. My rearend still has the stock G80 and 4.10's with no problems yet. I do launch in 4wd though.

and dont forget..i still have this built sf 14 bolt 6 lug 9.5" rear end with eaton pozi and 3:42 gear setting around just waiting to go into somebodys truck!!!!
