I am kinda new here. I read a lot but don't really post as i haven't a lot of experience. I would like some help in picking out a new transmission for my 2003 Chevy Silverado....it has a 5.3 with 373 rear end it is 4x4. I haven't done much mod wise except for tuning. I bought a Predator for it and have been happy so far. I noticed recently that my tranny has started to slip a little. It is considerable noticeable when I try to get it to downshift as the RPM's will go a few hundred higher than normal. I had it checked out and the shop I took it to said it would cost me about 1700 to get it fixed. The truck only has 62000 miles on it and most are highway. I think that I would rather just replace the whole transmission as I feel that I can do this but not actually switch out individual serrvos and such because I am not that experienced. I have tried to read through the posts but there are so many different ones that I am confusing what I should get. I currently have a 4l60e and want to put in something similar but with tougher parts so I don't have to mess with this again. Can anyone give me some pointers. Thanks guys.

You have several options. Before answering your questions specifically, how much money are you willing to put down for a solution?

Is it not covered by warrantee at 62K? If it is, have the stealership replace it then you can beef it up after you put a couple thousand on it. You'd be surprised what GM will do for you if you call the 1800chevusa phone number and complain. They gave me an entire new head for my GrandAm even though the car had 117k on it. Cost me nothing but installation charges, a couple six packs for my mechanic, me.

I am willing to spend up to about 3k. I figure if I replace the tranny I might as well replace the stall and flexplate at the same time. I have called GM and they are looking into it. Thanks for your help guys.

Good deal. Keep us posted on what you find out from GM. There's enough good advice from the guys here to steer you in the right direction.
