    4L80 Conversion ?'s

Installed it already my ? is this trans has a bolt on yoke, seeing that this will be a one piece shaft dont I need a slip yoke like my 700r4 had?

If so can I reuse my 700r4 yoke when I get a new driveshaft made or is there a stronger one I can use?

    Im so confused...

How do I measure for the new driveshaft? Especially from where to where.

Ask the company that you will be getting the shaft from, how they want you to measure.

depends on how you have it setup. If you get a new shaft built, get it with the larger caps, 1-3/16 I believe it was. I had to get a conversion U-joint to mate up the 80 slip yoke to a 60e driveshaft. Get it built stronger while you're paying good money for a new shaft. I'd also buy a rear pinion yoke to fit the 80e size Ujoints.

Oh I see..damn I just got off the phone with the driveshaft people and they r quoting me 350 including new trans yoke, 3.5 diameter shaft, and they said anything over 72 inch it needs to be aluminum.
They did ask about the size of the rear ujoint caps but didnt know it.

I'll call them again and ask about the large caps and bigger pinion yoke.

    Thanks for the help!!

Take the rear output housing off the transmission and make sure which output shaft you have. My first 80e had the bolt on yoke and my current one has a slip yoke. The bolt on will have about 3" of spline and the slip yoke style will have about 5" of spline.

Great what you r saying is I probaly have the wrong output shaft for the needed slip yoke!
So I have to replace the output shaft If I dont have the right one?

It will be good to know what you're working with before that dead fish smashes you square in the face.
