Just wanted to say hello to everyone. I own a 2000 GMC Sierra Z71 with about 155k. It has been very good to me and I haven't even changed the brakes yet. I always check them everytime I rotate the tires and do the regular maintenance, they have about 1\3 left so I will be changing them soon. It said long life pads on the sticker when I bought the car..... but damn. The only thing that went out on it was the fuel pump, luckily on my driveway. Anyways, I'm ordering my 3" body lift and a set of Rancho RSXs.

As a BMW mechanic, I'm new to the truck modding scene, so don't mind me if I ask stupid questions about lifting and oversize tires. But any questions about BMWs, I'll definitely help.

Welcome. Great, a BMW techie. Here's a question for you, what would cause a 91 325i to surge and sometimes die when the engine is cold and you are shifting from reverse to drive? Also, is it necessary to have the tires road force balanced or will spin balancing suffice?

ARGH!!! I just asked a BMW question on our site. I am such a traitor!!!

91.. an oldie but goodie. I believe that is still the e30 body style, but that was the cutoff year... so tell me if i'm wrong.

If it is an e30 then it sounds like the idle control valve. The big valve that is in front of the throttle body. I just replaced one for a neighbor who had the same problem. Although sometimes it can be the fuel pressure regulator. They get old after a while and should be replaced if the car goes over 100k.

On those tires spin balancing is ok, but road force balancing is always recommended. If you have it done at the dealer then they will always road force balance them. When you have the car aligned, the car should always be weighed down also.

    I hope that it helped!

Yeah, it's an E30. It's a decent little car and runs down the road humming along like a sewing machine. It's a little long in the tooth on mileage. We don't know how many miles are on it, someone decided to reset the mileage counter while driving and it killed the odometer. Damn BWM engineering!!!
