Yeah, and welcome. Nice post for your very first one.

It helps to know what you are going to put the engine into. Is it a Nash Metropolitan or a C60 dump truck?

Hmmmm....guess it helps to read the title of the thread.

Damn, I didn't see that before.

Thanks to CARB, your first requirement will be to get a 2001 or 2002 PCM. Go with the 2002. You cannot put an older engine in a newer vehicle per CARB.

why would i have to get a 2002 computer if i have a 99 computer to go with the motor and trans. i cant just rip out my 4.3 computer and put the new one that i am getting in its place. the motor that i am buying was pulled out of a car with about 50k miles on it they took everything out.
i plan on putting in a ls6 cam and valve springs, lower end pully and the vett head gasket. just for starters then when i save some more do some other things.
Oh and i am putting it into a 2001 chevy silverado reg. cab swb.
and thanks for the tip on alot of beer i was already planing on that.
    thanks again

If your state is anything like TX or CA you legally, due to CARB regulations, cannot put an older technology engine into your truck than a 2001 year model and you must install all the smog control devices that were installed on the transferred engine. Any state that does their emissions control testing by plugging into the OBD2 diagnostic port will not pass the emissions test if an older engine is in place that the year of manufacture of the truck. I would definitely check with you local laws before getting too involved in the change-over.
