    New guy from VA

What's up guys. My names Matt and I just acquired a 1988 Chevy C1500 for all of free.99. I got the truck from I guy that I go to church with that said the truck just quit on him and he couldn't get it back up and running. Anyway I offered to pay him for the truck but he said that I could just have it since it was sitting at his friends house and had been for about 3 months and just wanted to get it off their property. He handed me the keys and I went back later with the intentions of towing the truck home but decided to bring a little bit of starter fluid and jumper cables and sure enough I managed to get the truck running and brought it home under its own power.

The truck does need some work but I don't really plan on making this a show truck or anything. My plans are to run it till it dies and then swap in any LS based motor that I can find for cheap (either a 5.3 or 6.0). I've got two other toys to play around with and make fast so I plan on making this the tow vehicle for those.

I was told this was the place to be to gather information on the swap.

I do plan on doing a few things to it just to get it running fine and able to pass inspection. The fuel pump and filter as well as the start are the first things I plan on swapping out. Now if I plan on swapping in an LS motor and would have to change the fuel pump anyway then does anyone know if I would have issues using the upgraded fuel pump with the stock 350 TBI for a while?

I may actually have an ignition module sitting in the shop that is brand new. If it's the right one, I'll send it to you for the cost of shipping. Save you 30 bucks or so IIRC.

    Free is always good.
I said the same thing and could never kill my TBI engine.
Lots of good info here on the swap you are planning.

Well it's pushing 257k miles and is leaking oil like it's nobodies business. I'm sure I can still drive it for a little while but its certainly not the smoothest running truck I've driven.
