Alright...I know the swap has been done numerous times to the OBS Pickups and someone on here is attempting a 95 Suburban and others are thinking of doing a Tahoe or Yukon or something.

I just want a thread for myself to keep track of with info for this swap...please help!

    What's needed:

    LQ4 (I want the LQ4 over the LQ9 for low compression...possible SC)
    Tranny - 4L60E, 65E, 80E
T-Case - Stock, NVG 149!!!! what do you think?
    ECM
    Wiring Harness

Now what about under the hood, other than the motor...Im talking radiator, A/C, Battery placement, power steering... can any of this be reused, or should all this be replaced with the same accesories as the LQ4?

This is pretty basic for now...im ure more questions will arise. The 350 I have i still good but for my own reference as a later project I'd like to know all of this.

    Thanks ahead.

Wow no replies...that's cool. I figured PSWired or docgreen would've chimed in with a little insight. I didn't want to PM no one... I figured since this topic has come up alot maybe someone would share a HOW-TO for all of us OBS guys. That's what LS1Truck is missing is more how to's...ESPECIALLY us OBS guys!!!! LOL

Naw im sure eventually someone will say something. I did notice not too many people are on here at one time. Hmmmm Im on like aaaallll the time. Addiction is what it is.

Read back posts and mosts of your questions will be answered. Many of us have done this conversion on OBS trucks. I dropped a 98 into my stolen 92 ECSB and put 2002 LS1 heads on it. Now I am dropping a 98 LS1 into my 93 ECSB at this time. I am doing the wiring harnessnow before the engine goes in.

Time is of the essence though? I'll be leaving for Basic shortly and be gone for a year.

Hey Red Im glad to hear you got yourself a new truck and Im also glad to hear you already got a motor for it. Thats a gearhead for ya.
Hey Gear if you cant get the truck done in time for basic then its ok. You wont be driving anytime soon. What branch and job are you goin in? Well gettin back to the swap is pretty much identical for all trucks and suburbans alike. Since its been done over and over theres lots of info on the forum and if you stick around long enough you will see that alot of people come in and post threads saying that they are " thinkin about doing a swap and blah..blah...blah" but a few weeks later they miracously dissapear off the face of the planet. So unless you got started on the project and are stuck somewhere, then you are better off reading previous post. Not too be rude just been realistic. Good luck.
    Had a 91 SB, Open diff, 3.08 gears, stock LS1/T56. 14.8@95.9...sold.
    Now, 90 C1500 350tbi/NV3500....just bought a 5.3...need T56, Swap parts.....
