I need to get a new frame for my project. I have found a 5.7l frame and a 4.3l frame. I see that the LS1 S&P motor mounts can be flipped to fit the 4.3l frame, but does it change where the motor would be placed in a 5.7l truck?

Basically I'm wondering if the ls1 is going to be in the same place on a 5.7l frame and a 4.3l frame w/ the flipped mounts.

    thanks.

Good question. The frames are the same for the V6 and V8. The V6 has mounts bolted through the crossmember that can be used as-is or removed and then you can use V8 mounts. It's simpler to just start with a V8 frame to save a few hours work and parts search for V8 mounts. Many people have used the V6 frames without issue. As for the motor location difference, I don't have a clue. The V8 mounting location works good. LS1NICA flipped the mounts to use the V6 engine mount location without issue. Like they say "six of one and half-a-dozen of the other". It works both ways.

So the frame itself is the same between motors then? I can just use the V8 mounts off of my original truck, which will bolt in place of the V6 mounts?

I have a v8 frame, but it is a longbox version, and I'm going to do a short box on the truck.

There should be no difference. You'll have to remove the lower a-arms to get to the nuts that hold the V6 motor mounts onto the crossmember. Other than that, it's a piece of cake to modify the V6 from back to V8 configuration.
