You better budget about $5000 for a conversion. That is being conservative. All the small incidental costs are what surprise you. HwyAuto should have one or two still available. I think if you look through his past posts he had some for about $2000 and you will need to get an LS1 transmission, too. Save some money back for Allen to custom program a PCM for you.

Oh yeah, go for a Comp Cams HR281XR, 918 springs and 7.400 long pushrods. Buy once, Buy right. I suppose you want extreme performance for a good price, correct? Avoid the costly mistakes of having to do things over and over until you are happy. Try to purchase a 2002 LS1 take-out so that you get the LS6 intake manifold pn 12573572 for about 10 more hp. That will save you $400 switching it out later. If you plan on putting a/c back in the truck, March Performance now makes brackets for the LS1 similar to those Street and Performance makes. Finally, pricing competition! March makes an entire pulley kit to replace the stock pulleys. Headers will cost you a chunk of change, too. There are many thoughts on how to handle the exhaust.....short tubes, mid-length, long tubes or just truck cast iron manifolds. Manifolds work great on mine so far and at $50 a pair were quite affordable. How you go is totally up to you and your budget.

aite thanks....for now im just mainly focusing on finding the engine itself, transmission, and ecu for it. Your advise on the pushrods and cam helped out alot becuz now im going to go straight for those. But as for the pulleys they are gunna have to wait. I have a budget and im mainly focusing on trying to get everything for around $8,000.Not sure if its possible but thats what im trying to shoot for. When i find the engine and the main things i need then im going to focus on getting everything else. Also when were talking bout full exhaust i cant just order one like the ones in trans ams becuz the piping would be different. Any suggestions on that and the cost of it? thanks for your help though. Im still learning alot about the prices and the best products to shoot for. your a BIG help.

I can't help you on the 2000 exhaust. Others with the newer trucks can help you there. Long tube exhausts are the way to go since they will fit in you truck, you get more torque. If you can afford the smaller torque converter it will help you out of the hole. A smaller crank pulley will help in that department, too. Oh, the dollar bills are adding up. $800+ for headers, $400 for custom exhaust, converter about $800, take-out engine & transmission about $3000, PCM programming $250?, motor mounts $100, radiator hoses $40, electric fans $400 for 05 models new, wiring harness for fan $80, larger radiator if you want a 34" model to fit the 05 fan kit $250 from chinese aftermarket body part shop, fuel line modification $40-150, driveshaft modification $100.... Damn, I am glad mine is done!!!

See the signature for current details. I am throwing more money into it as we speak. 2002 LS1 241 casting heads, Lingenfelter cam, Comp Cams 918 springs, Thunder racing 7.4 push rods. I don't know how much HP but a base LS1 is about 325 hp without any mods at the motor. If I knew how much the truck weighed there are fuzzy math formulas to rough guess the hp by ET.

Whats the difference in casting number besides the year. Mine say 241 and its a 02 motor, are they better flowing?

In any case Big Mike what kinda of tranny you want? The swap itself has ups and downs. My suggestion just like anyone else will tell you is plan everything out and have backup plans, just in case.

I droped one on my 91 C1500 V6 and it cost me right around 1500 for misc parts and renting shop time and towing. I had access to the TA I got the motor from so I didnt spend money on that. They wiring was a demon beast of its own but I did it myself and just got the truck running today. If you need help keep posting, good luck.
    Had a 91 SB, Open diff, 3.08 gears, stock LS1/T56. 14.8@95.9...sold.
    Now, 90 C1500 350tbi/NV3500....just bought a 5.3...need T56, Swap parts.....
