New member with ???'s 5.3 Swap

Hello everyone I have a 1999 5.3 silverado that has 207,000 on it and the bottom end is about to go out. I'm looking on either rebuilding or swapping out. Tring to find out if a 6.0 swap is possible on the 99 style.. I was told that the truck will except a motor from 1999 only.. Either way I go, I'm looking to add some HP. This truck pulls heavy boats on a daily basis. Keep in mind that all this needs to stay in a decent budget. Any ideas.. Thanks

do a 2001+ 6L engine longblock swap. You'll have to swap the intakes usually since many of the 6L engines are drive by wire instead of cable pull. Also swap the injectors from the 6L intake into your 5.3L intake. You are not limited to only 1999 engines, the sky is the limit.

DBC TB will bolt to the DB intake. Get the TB and cables from a wrecking yard. If you go 6.0 go with a 2001+ as stated above to get the better aluminum heads.

If he gets the whole intake he gets the bolt holes and brackets for the throttle cable, they don't put the brass inserts for the cable bracket in the DBW intakes plus the fuel rails are often different, single line on DBW setups vs return style fuel rail on the DBC setup.

Yeah there is probably a million combos as my 2003 has DBW, return type rails (as would a 2004), and missing brass inserts (as noted) and extra brass inserts (3-piece engine cover). Add in all the different (3?) types of DBW TB's and there are lots of ways to swap.

will you 2 brainiacs stop confusing the guy......No youre not limited to just a 99 motor, the 01+ some say are better to use. and a 6.0 will bolt right up since you already had a V8

You say the 6.0 will bolt right up to my 5.3 motor mounts? How about the ECU and harness? Do I have to use my old intake and TB or can I just drop the complete 6.0 in and hook up the lines..

It drops right in on the mounts you have.....same engine. The other answers depend on what 6.0 from what year and what vehicle it comes out of. You will want and need a tune.
